My mom was in the hospital in Nacogdoches, TX and on Monday night, Dr. Eddy Furniss was on the 3rd floor making rounds and my dad and I got a chance to speak with him. Just casual conversation about LSU sports. All around nice guy.

Cool.......one of my all-time favorites. What kind of doctor is he?

Im pretty sure he's family medicine and his Dad is a physician also.
Fantastic LSU ambassador and classy guy.

I didn't know he became a Dr. He was one of my favorites when he was playing.

He's a family medicine physician. BTW. If I was his patient in the hospital, if I needed him, I would call out....
"EDDY...EDDY...EDDY"

ETA. Here's a pic of him at the recent banquet.

It would have to be a pain to make your rounds with people always wanting to stop you and talk about baseball. I'm sure it's cool during his time off, but while making rounds I'm sure it slows him down.
It sounds like he handles it with class, though.

He was the man when I was growing up. Looks a little strange to see him that skinny.

yeh, looks odd being that skinny. I played against that dude in junior college and he hit a ball that still hasn't landed. Think he went 5-6 with 4 bombs,a double and a K to end the game....

How many people in nacogdoches, tx, do you think care about LSU baseball? There can't be many...

That's very cool. I met him at a birthday party for my son about a year ago. His sister's kid was in my son's class and he was at the party. We were at LSU at the same time, so we chatted for a good while about those years. I was a huge fan back then and it was incredible to get to talk to him one on one. He is one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet, and yes he did seem small compared to how I remembered him back in the day. Goes to show how hard athletes today have to work to be in playing shape for almost any sport.
