If Sheerin could step up and help the bullpen that would be huge. He's got ++ stuff.

"He has made great progress on his recovery," LSU coach Jay Johnson told The Advocate on Thursday.

Also doesn't hurt that we get Larson if needed.

I've been waiting on sheerin.

He is going to surprise some people.

Will take time to shake the rust off. But Sheerin has big upside if he can get healthy. Would be a pleasant and much needed surprise if he can play and contribute this year.

I would prefer that his first appearance isn't vs Tennessee unless we're down big

What’s his stuff look like? I don’t quite recall but I believe it was 97-99 with a power curve correct? That could very well be the missing piece to our bullpen

Some of you don’t understand basic stuff. This is the SEC…do you think a dude that hasn’t played can come in and help now? Without seeing him in any competition thus far this year?

As a starter velo was closer to 93-95 T98, but you never know what that means out of the pen. Here is a write up and short clip from an appearance at MSU last year.

Do you not understand that this guy has ++ stuff and has faced LSU hitters in live ABs?

Chad Jones did it in 09 and he hadn't pitched in 3 years. Jake Latz pitched very well in conference play after being out most of the year, and he was a true freshman. It's not unheard of at all.

What's the point of totally writing him off? He is on the roster. He is off the injury report. No one here has said he's going to come in and be a Friday guy. Saying "IF he's ready, he'll be a huge asset."

Just frick off with these responses.

Recovering from a torn ACL? Hell, I played high level church league softball with no ACL. That's wimpy.

No Ashton Larson and no Deven Sheerin on the SEC availability report to start the week. #LSU

This confused me until I clicked the link.

Looks like Ashton Larson is okay. This is great news.

I don’t think people are saying that. I took it as he is not on the report finally. So he is full go. Meaning moving forward. He will obviously be last arm this weekend. But maybe up 7 runs or down 7 runs throw him in to start an inning and see what happens. Then test midweek. Then following weekend try to squeeze an inning. Slowly ramping up, then maybe he has shown some things after 3-4 weeks and 8-9 innings of work, you give him more responsibility…then by the regionals he is a guy you can depend and count on

Our bullpen is tough to watch and unless Anderson or Eyanson can pull complete games or 8 inning games out there arse on a regular basis, we desperately need to find another arm or some dudes HAVEEE to step up

According to his LSU bio, Jake only had 3 IP against SEC teams; and only 8.1 IP for his entire career here. I guess you can cherry pick the highs, but if Sheerin contributes no more in '25 than Latz in '16, then we should temper our expectation some.

Jake Latz LSU Bio

FTR, Sheerin's stuff looked really good in the clip and Latz was legit; still with the Rangers.

So I guess you’re saying we should just redshirt him for no reason because he missed half the year? We can’t slowly work a guy with experience back in so he can be ready by the post season? Let’s just keep hoping Benge, and Ware can start throwing strikes?
At this point, Sheerin can’t hurt us on Sunday due to others guys not stepping up like they should have. He might not do great but let’s get him some reps and get him ready for the post season.

His fastball is legit and he gets great movement on his pitches.

Him, eyanson, and Cowan were my 3 favorite of the guys they signed.

No. I'm saying if Sheerin contributes no more in '25 than Latz in '16, then we should temper our expectations some. LSUButt's post just above is good.

Wasn’t Latz coming back from a stress fracture in the elbow of his throwing arm?

His LSU bio describes it as a "stress reaction in his left elbow."
