2024 - 5-11 in SEC games decided by 3 or fewer runs.

2023 - 9-4 in such games

This team just did not get it done in close games. There are many specific reasons why, but basically they were just not good enough when there was pressure on them to perform.

Maybe the year of experience will help some, but in many cases better players are needed.

Yep our close game record is our main problem.

The bad part is it wasn’t like other teams just made tremendous plays to beat us. We made bad mental mistakes that gave the games we lost away.

2 games lost by our sr catcher making bad plays

The horrendous Sunday starts didn’t sink us the not winning the close ones at a 50 percent better clip did

Game #2 Florida: Blew late inning lead from a passed ball
Game #2 Arkansas: Lost a close game in extra innings
Game #2 Vandy: Vandy scored 3 runs in the last 2 innings to win
Game #2: Missouri: Holeman has an off-day gave up 6 earned runs lose by 1
Game #1: Alabama: We all know what happened here.
Game #3: Alabama: Finally get good pitching on a 3rd game only score 3 runs

LSU just goes 3-3 in these games they are sitting at 13 wins going into Ole Miss series with just having to go 1-2 to almost guarantee a playoff spot.

This team just could never find ways to win games when needed.
