becoming the hardest-throwing starting pitching prospect I’ve ever seen
In person or on TV l, starter vs reliever? Is he 12? I mean, it is all context. He is not the hardest thrower I’ve ever seen. Randy Johnson and Nolan Ryan threw harder. You guys are enamored with Trackman picking up the ball out of the hand versus how they used to measure it. Stop saying he is throwing harder than a freaking 46 y/o Nolan Ryan when his last pitch AT 46 WAS 98 which is closer to 100-101. NINETY EIGHT AFTER STRIKING OUT 5000+ in the bigs.
He is not the hardest throwing pitcher I’ve ever seen. Hell, the guy from Tennessee last year threw harder.

His average fastball velocity is faster than every starting pitcher in the MLB.

just for comparison ... 2009 Strasburg vs. 2023 Skenes (still has several more starts remaining)
both are dominant with similar numbers
looks like Strasburg averaged 7.26 innings per start, and Skenes has averaged 6.15 inn/start ...
with an additional inning of facing a min. of 3 batters, Skenes numbers could be even more impressive.

And WHERE DID HE SAY THAT? He said “prospect”. The guy from Tennessee threw harder just last season.

We lost to Air Force his last year here and Skenes pitched and Paul wAs like “that’s some arm talent”
And I think we were all like “stop losing to fricking service schools Paul”
We all had some good points

You are legit the dumbest baseball poster on here of the guys that actually follow LSU baseball from season to season.

Hell are you talking about.
Same Tenner guy came in this year he is 91-94.
Skenes has hit 101 quite a few times and has a sustained FB at 98 for 7-8 innings.
That’s HOF shite.
For reference The Rocket Clemons
Settled in at 91-94 during games halfway through his career prolly for sustainability but that’s how serious Skenes is a Flamethrower.

But in this case, he’s right. Mainieri surely has seen all of the HOF pitchers of the last 60 years. Skenes is not better than all of them. Maybe CPM meant in college, but that’s not what he said. Technically, 1988 is correct.
