Juat looked at his stats. He is batting .348 with 11 HR and 36 RBI. Also has 8 doubles.

Is it...
1. Fresh start
2. SEC is just way better and this is why rankings are the way they are.
3. Combo

Seemed like a good dude. Never complained because he was a big time recruit. Happy he is doing well all while liking our current outfield.

3 SEC is tough but also fresh start along with him always having a high upside. Makes me think Neal should have transferred to FAU or something and he might be trending up but going to Bama didn't help him at all.

It would be nice to have another RH bat

All of the above:
New scenery
Close to family
Not as much pressure
Competition (opponents & inner team)
He is still a good ball player and was a good Tiger

objectively SEC pitching is better than what he is facing now, but he always had huge upside, so probably a combo of both.

If he stayed you probably don't get Stanfield and although Kling has more pop I don't think he would have near the BA he currently has if he was still at LSU so you would have the same amount of RH bats with more pop but less contact defense is a wash.

It is 96% due to this but happy to see it.

Happy for him.

To be honest, IDK why. I'm a little surprised he's doing as well as he is. I suspect most of us are.

When players move up to the next level, some just take longer than others to adjust. But they do.

As a comparison, his numbers will probably be close to Luis Hernandez's at Indiana State in '24 and he's playing pretty well in the SEC. My guess is the Big-10 is similar in talent to Indiana St. FTR, Luis's #s were pretty pedestrian his first two years. So would you take Paxton back for '26 if he maintains this level?

Going to Bama didnt help him at all because he is a Catcher that Simply Cannot Catch. I have never seen a catcher miss as many balls as that Kid.

Wasn't he generally pretty good with the bat until he got into SEC play?

Also, playing at LSU comes with expectations. Maybe he would have succeeded at another SEC school not named LSU. Maybe that was too much pressure to overcome. What I saw at LSU was a kid who never adjusted his swing, no matter the count. I found this odd considering how involved Jay is with hitting and the success he has had with other players progression.

Sam Dutton also Friday night starter and doing really well elsewhere, except IN the SEC.
