Timely hitting is very important indeed.

Dickinson, Curiel, Frey, Jones, Brown, Larson, and Stanfield all have over .333 BA with RISP on the season.

Milam .291
Pearson .200
Brasswell .250
Hernandez .258

Scoring 7-10 runs a game really covers up some pitching deficiencies for sure. I’m mostly frustrated with the high ceiling projection pitchers we keep taking a risk on. Give me the cotton and Cowan type relief all day. As for hitting, sometimes it’s painful how difficult we make situational hitting look, especially middle lineup guys.

Do you have those stats for SEC play? Not challenging you, I’m genuinely curious of the variance between the two.

I do not. If you look at the live stats on lsusports.net, select the team (visitor or home) and then select season stats, those show up.

been this way for the last 2 weeks.

Hell, we could have blown the game open in the first on Friday if those two line drives don’t go right at LeBron and Quick.

Pretty confident our luck will turn around and we’ll have some big offensive series in the next couple weeks.

This kinda makes Scone look silly by bringing Frey into the conversation of if Brown should be an every day starter. It’s clear it should be a discussion between Brown and Pearson and honestly it’s not much of one. Use the eye test alone like he was saying but the stats are pretty undeniable.

Frey still doesn’t have a ton of SEC experience and by having Larson and Pearson on the bench you leave yourself some matchup opportunities later in games.

Yeah, I'm on the Brown RF/Frey DH team. I get Pearson has made some plays over the years, but I don't think he's as good as Brown is now, nor as good as Brown will be the more at bats he gets.

Let Pearson DH for Brasswell late in games and make some moves at that point. Honestly, if you want them both in the game, do this in the midweek:

1. Curiel LF
2. Dickinson 2B
3. Frey DH
4. Jones 3B
5. Milam SS
6. Brown 1B
7. Hernandez C
8. Pearson RF
9. Stanfield CF

I'd like to see a full game of Jones at 3B, but not sure Brown is good enough at 1B. Would also like to see this lineup but with Larson at 1B and Brown in RF. Want more Larson at bats, but don't want to give up too much speed in the outfield with a + arm like Brown.

Idk. just something you can try in the midweek.

I’m pretty certain this is .000 in SEC games. I went back checking and can’t find a hit with RISP.
He has 5 RBIs: 2 solo HRs, a 2 run HR with curiel on first base, and a sac fly. He’s had 8-10 chances to knock in runners with a single and has not done it. Posters here will still call him clutch.

Nice find. It seems to have the stats as of that game but only for the players that played in that game.

RISP on the season
.471 Frey
.410 Brown
.400 Jones
.365 Dickinson
.357 Larson
.350 Stanfield
.333 Curiel
.318 (overall team BA on the season)
.294 Arrambide
.291 Milam
.278 Reaves
.258 Hernandez
.250 Beck
.250 Braswell
.200 Pearson

With the exception of Pearson, I don't think we have a 'problem' hitting with RISP. Most of those guys are pretty consistent hitting with or without RISP. Some are performing a bit above their regular BA (Frey, Brown, Jones, and Larson), but most are close.

The stats versus a Dakota, Nicholls and Southetn doesn’t matter. What are thdd Ed SEC stats.

I know one;
First three series we scored 5 or more runs 7?times.
Second three series we scored five or more runs just twice,

7 out of 9 versus 2 out of 9 games.
We need to score more.

It’s because we don’t know how to manufactured runs. It’s not what Jay does or teaches, clearly.

We either hit balls off the wall or over the wall to score. Period. It’s just not great baseball.

I like Brown and the others as well. The thing that makes a slight edge for Brown is that he has an absolute rocket arm from RF. No need for a cutoff man with him.
