SEC Men's Golf Championship - LSU seeded No. 2 going into match play

Sea Island has hosted the SEC Men’s Golf Tournament since 2001. The tournament consists of three days of 18-hole stroke play before match play begins with the quarterfinal and semifinal rounds on Saturday. The championship match will be held on Sunday and televised live nationally on SEC Network.

Actually, the top 8 teams move on to match play after Day 3. Today was the second round and tomorrow will be the 3rd round of stroke play. LSU was in 2nd after the 1st day and is now in 1st place after the 2nd day of play.

LSU and Auburn are leading right now and it also looks like they have similar tee times. I wonder if that is playing into their better scoring. Lighter winds at that time?

The hires won’t get the same publicity and hype on the boards for obvious reasons but Amos (men’s golf) and Fogleman (women’s tennis) are two more great hires by Woodward.

Looks like LSU will finish stroke play in 2nd place. Match play starts tomorrow with LSU the 2nd seed. Tope 8 teams from stroke play advance to tomorrow's match play round. LSU had 4 golfers finish in the top 13, but Auburn had 4 finish in the top 11. Freshman Jay Mendall finished in a tie for 3rd in stroke play. Should be fun watching match play tomorrow. Geaux Tigers.
