Riley (and Cristobal down the list) coach at private universities which aren't subject to the same FOIA requests public schools are.

I have nothing to back this up, but I'm pretty sure all of those buyouts are basically just based on the length of the contract. Guys who just signed a contract/extension are going to have significantly higher buyouts than guys that have 2 or 3 years left on their deal.

Does the buyout go down every year? Asking for a friend in the future

The buyouts are ridiculous and should be capped.

LOTS of big time and rising coaches further down that list. Coaches that have been and will be sought after soon. Especially considering their current trajectories and/or body of work

P.J. Fleck
Matt Rhule
Pat Narduzzi
Mike Locksley
Sonny Dykes
Greg Schiano, etc.

I mean, how can Venables, Napier, Pittman or Stoops possibly demand more than them?

Great post, I agree. In the unlikely situation where BK wouldn’t be bluffing and takes another job after this season, would the new school owe LSU the $60+Mil buyout? Or does it only work if LSU were to fire BK?

And, Ed O thought he hit the jackpot with a $17 million dollar buyout. LOL!

How do we effectively get buyouts built into our daily job type job contracts?

Please & thank you.

I  don't care if BK makes the CFP or even wins the NC this year. Don't EXTEND the contract. It's only year 3. If at (going on) 64 years old he wants to leverage another school into a massive deal and take multiple years to rebuild that program into a contender, so be it. I suspect if the AD called his bluff he would stay at a program that would be (almost) "built" in LSU on his current contract.

This cannot be said enough.

If Kelly does win a Championship, LSU would have no reason to pay Kelly an absurd amount or tive him a long extension.

LSU would be in a position where 4 consecutive head coaches won National Championships and should have coaches beating down the doors should Kelly decide to leave.

I know Miami and LSU both have had 3 consecutive coaches win titles, but has there ever been a school have 4?

Miami came close, but Butch Davis left before he won one.

i agree with what you're saying but what as far as annual salary I wouldn't be surprised if in his contract it says he has to be the highest paid if he wins a national title...i think it was in one of our coaches contract one time. The agents hold all the power. The AD's should get together and agree not to give these retarded contracts

FSU backed the brinks for a guy who has never even made the CFP. Think about that.
