Regardless if it’s Jay or it’s the player. Throw that shite away. That isn’t LSU baseball.

Paul used some small ball in 09 on the way to a title. I’ll take whatever works.

If the bats weren’t struggling like they are, we wouldn’t be doing it. I don’t mind the one from Curiel. He just needs to lay it down a little better and he beats the throw.

I don’t like it but when the team is struggling as a whole like they are you’re trying to do whatever you can to get on base.

Meh they’re bunting for a hit against a defense that struggles to play pitch and catch. when they weren’t hitting the ball. Trying to make something happen. It didn’t work.
Tip your cap to the other team they made the plays.
But at least you forced them to make the plays rather than get mowed down like we were at that point.

Jay was supposed to bring hitting/offense.

The reality is that if he doesn’t have a more talented roster than his opponent then it doesn’t happen.

He got bailed out by not bunting Braswell, the wild pitch saved that mistake. Didn’t matter, Stansfield has been overpowered by Tennessee pitching.

Curiel and Brown are the last players on this team that should be bunting period…and especially not with two outs and runners in scoring position

Who is out there winning without talent?

a bad night with Jay is 2-4 runs.

a bad night for most teams is 0-1

Weak dick way to use our purest hitter.

Some say it was Jays call, others say it was Curiels.

Either way hit the fukin ball.

I’m not a negatiger. But those are VERY low percentage plays. Trying to bunt for a hit with two outs? I need some coaching.

Twice in one game may indicate that they saw something and were trying to exploit a certain player. But who knows.

What's crazy is rarely use the 1 out bunt.

In the game we one on Friday 3rd base had 2 errors in inning 9. We were hunting a weakness.

Yea I’d much rather keep striking out or hitting lazy fly balls

Money ball doesn’t work in the sec because there isn’t minor leagues and player movement within season.

And the hyper variable nature of development in the college age group combined with the overall lower talent level means that trends are hard to lock down, let alone exploit.

Moneyball was about finding an undervalued characteristic and leveraging it. It just so happened that the undervalued thing at that time was OBP. Later it was pitch framing, then shifting, then batting order construction.

ETA: also, advanced analytics would tell you it almost never makes sense to bunt. So saying moneyball doesn’t work and then arguing one it’s basic tenets is pretty dumb.

I would just like to hear someone’s explanation. I could live with the answer.

Hard to figure Jay calling for them on both occasions, yet maybe even more difficult to accept that Brown or Curiel would pull that on their own.

In Brown’s case, the runner had 2nd stolen before he laid it down and Curiel gives you the most professional AB on the team.

Jay has earned the benefit of the doubt with me, and I’m a professional 2nd guesser. I’m just curious as a student of the game

Maybe they just saw Major League and thought, "Hell, if that slow arse Tom Berenger can do it, so can I."
