The architect of TD Ameritrade / CS park is a dipshit.

The entire park is a wind funnel that faces the southeast, (Rosenblatt faced the Northeast), where the prevailing wind on a sunny day in Omaha during the summer is out of the SE or ESE.
Good job whatever architecture firm thought it was more important to get the Omaha skyline as the outfield backdrop, instead of just turning the damn stadium 90 degrees in any cardinal direction.
GOOD NEWS:
Forecast calls for a shift in wind direction Saturday evening through Monday blowing 15 from the NW.
If we make it to the weekend the balls should be flying. Wind will be straight in 10-15 tomorrow and 5-10 on Thursday.

The story I’ve seen passed around is the female Mayor at the time wanted Downtown Omaha in the background of the stadium.

Sounds about right. Not to mention it’s facing directly at the river. It should be facing the NE and and the wind would blow out to left, and all would be right in the world.
You can tell it was designed to maximize the skyline view on the 1B and Right field side. Almost like they told someone who picked a location north of downtown, that a baseball field cannot face south where wind in the summer is out of the SE.
Turn Alex Box facing the SE and it would be a graveyard.

The architects hands were most likely tied concerning this decision.
There’s no way they weren’t going to use that as the backdrop.
You can blame whoever chose the site.

It's not like that's some picturesque city

Everyone plays in the same stadium and everyone knows how the park plays and has been knowing that for quite some time now.
It's like in golf, the one's complaining about the course - you can scratch their name off the contenders list.
Adapt and overcome. Crews found a way to overcome tonight.
Geaux Tigers!!

Yep when the wind is blowing in the strategy has to change. Jay recognized that tonight and tried to play small. We’ve gotta do a better job executing.

With the majority of the pitchers being asked to get us over the finish line, don't you think we are much better off with the wind blowing in?
We just have to figure out how to play small ball better, eliminate base running snafus and stop leaving so many men on base. RISP need to be brought home with timely hitting.

100% agree! As a coach you must recognize all situational aspects of a ballgame. If wind is driving straight in.....
Teach Thompson to Bunt!

Wind blowing in is a real and strong possibility going into each day. I'm sure all teams approach a CWS here with that in mind and yes - you are correct we need to do a better job of executing and maybe there are some players that coaches either can't ask to bunt and if bunting is going to be a huge part of the game plan consider not playing.

Was talking about this last night. For every game at 6:00 the commentators have said how awful the sun and the shadows are. If this stadium was specifically designed to host the biggest weekend of Men’s College Baseball, then you would think a little more thought would have been put into its design.

I hate it snd it's the worst thing possible for the game of college baseball for the biggest games every year to have a severe lack of HRs butttttt
Against Wake this could actually help us with our pen vs theirs.
They smash HRs too and we don't have the arms left that they do and it actually plays into our advantage here

At some point this is meaningless to even discuss...and I think that point was 5 years ago. Stadium design ain't goin to change, the venue ain't gonn change and game start times probably ain't gonna change either.
Play ball.

It's just facts, your casual viewer wants more offense. I'm a diehard so I watch every game and it's objectively not as entertaining when the ball is not getting out of the stadium.
It's a more boring game that takes away by far the most thrilling aspect of the sport. I almost think they should move the fences in about 8' at this point. It was a dumb fricking design to shift the OF from NE to SE and now Dylan Crews can smash a ball 113mph off the bat with s perfect trajectory to the gap and it doesn't get out.
That shouldn't happen. Not when it's your prime time games with more viewers than ever

Charles Schwab Field Omaha (formerly TD Ameritrade Park Omaha
"Dimensions
From home plate to straight-away center is 408 feet. It’s 335 feet down the lines and 375 feet to left and right center, with a symmetrical fence design from pole to pole. Those field dimensions are the same as they were at Rosenblatt Stadium. All the way around, the fence is eight feet tall. The batter’s eye in center field is 42 feet tall, and the bullpens are directly behind the fence down each line. At home plate, the shortest distance to a row of seats is 52 feet."

Play ball.
This is why Paul built small ball teams. Because of 2013 when we smashed a million balls to the warning track.
He realized the best way to win in Omaha was go small and every single fan hated it.
I just don't think it's a good thing for the sport to take away HRs when you get to the World Series

And you know this because of your vast experience in architecture and civil engineering I assume? Plus your knowledge of the area and its weather patterns?
The problem is nostalgia (similar to the new Alex Box) because people don’t want to tear it down due to nostalgia so they build it exact the same dimensions as the old park. That’s how we wind up with a deep outfield and massive foul territory and bullpens in play (Box). No one could know the wind effect before hand
