The Cincinnati Bengals are about to implode

I have followed the Bengals pretty decently ever since Burrow was drafted there, and I think Cincinnati is in a really tough spot moving forward, even with Burrow there.
For as good as Chase is, he barely practiced with the team at all in the offseason, and his contract talks have been a huge distraction for the team and players in Cincinnati. He was great tonight, but he also had a dumb, and costly penalty against KC that really gave the game away.
Cincinnati’s HC Zac Taylor is not very good. Fans and the owner have wanted him gone at points. The SB run, and Burrow I think have ultimately made Zac Taylor look a lot better than he really is. Taylor’s play calling always hinders the Bengals offense.
There are reports that Tee Higgins is disgruntled as well, and Cincy had to use their Franchise Tag on him this past offseason. The Bengals have also lost Joe Mixon who is killing it for the Texans, and Jessie Bates was a big loss a year and a half ago, as he has been the best Safety in the NFL in that time frame in Atlanta.
Burrow is now making huge money, and it just so happens the Bengals owner is the only guy who can’t give out multiple big contracts, as his only source of income is from his actual football team the Bengals. Respect to his family for what they built, but it’s almost not fair to the Bengals, that they have an owner who is capped out, and can’t compete with everybody else.
The point of me saying all this, is that Joe Burrow is really good, and I think he has helped hide a lot of underlying and lingering problems that have been going on in Cincinnati. He went to historically one of the worst franchises, and most poorly run franchises ever, and went to a SB year 2, and almost took them to back to back SB’s if it wasn’t for some questionable calls in Arrowhead. Burrow has masked the Bengals problems, and they might implode here pretty soon, is what I’m staring to think.

Brown is worth $2.1 billion and the Bengals are worth between $4-5 billion. The Bengals could afford to pay Chase top 3 WR money. They could have afforded to keep Bates and Mixon. They didn’t because Brown is cheap and would rather pay all his family members million dollar salaries. Brown has never had a real job in his life. He inherited the team from his Daddy.
Zac Taylor is a joke. The DC Anarumo is worse. Both have lived off that Super Bowl run 3 years ago.

This is silly. The Brown's have been shite stain tight arse owners for decades. Mike Brown's "only source of income" has gifted (he didn't earn shite, he inherited it) him a personal net worth north of $2.2 Billion. The franchise value sits at $4.7 Billion. It wasn't until Burrow was drafted that they even built an indoor practice facility.
Oh, there is also revenue sharing and a NFL salary cap.

Going cheap, is what’s going to cost the Bengals and Brown his Super Bowl window under Burrow. Every year when they come out with the NFL team reports, the Bengals consistently rank at the bottom of the pack in facilities, nutrition, treatment of families, locker room, travel, owner, etc. etc.
The Bengals have let some real good players walk, and their unwillingness to ever give Burrow anything more than a strung together offensive line, has hindered them too.

Then he needs to pay Chase, and Higgins, and stop letting guys like Mixon and Bates walk out the back door. A lot of the guys we see now on the Bengals offense are late round draft picks. They don’t draft or hit on late round picks nearly as well as a team like the Chiefs or the Cowboys do. They don’t have the fortune to let their best players walk out, and then retool right away.

Simple solution. Bring in Belichick

The Bengals have a losing regular season record since Damar Hamlin died on the field.

Its part of the reason why no one wanted him coming to the Bengals organization.

Chase still has another year left.
I really fail to see how people can take chase’s side in this.
Dude held out with 2 years left on his contract.

He's going to pay Chase. Higgins is iffy.

Letting Mixon go was smart. Mixon was very overpaid and not that good.
Bates hurt, but it was just a cap casualty. They drafted his replacement the year prior and typically do well drafting/developing guys.
Their big salary-related loss this year is DJ Reader.

And that's why he didn't get a deal. The Bengals, for better or worse, have rules on when they offer extensions for rookies. Even Burrow got his along that timeline.

That's the point. You can't pay everyone top dollar.

Mixon last year: 60.8 ypg and 4.0 ypc
Moss this year: 45.3 ypg and 4.1 ypc
Moss's total cap number this year is under $3M and they're grooming Chase Brown to be the lead, possibly some time this year (who is also cheap, on a rookie deal).

I can understand a greedy owner being cheap and keeping the money. But when you finally have a franchise QB, that's not the time to be cheap. That's the time to go all in and spend every red cent you can find to field a team that can win the whole damn thing. The Bengals should have a dynasty going. Instead they are in free fall. They'll bring in new coaches but if they keep letting talent walk then they'll be spinning their wheels.

Let me clarify something.
The problem isn't that Brown is cheap, in this instance. The problem is how the NFL regulates guaranteed money.
Burrow, for instance, was guaranteed $219.01M. Mike Brown has to deposit $219.01M in an escrow account when the contract is signed.
Now, look at the guaranteed amounts for some comparable WRs: Jefferson: $110m. Lamb: $100M.
It's a liquidity problem. The Raiders had this issue with Khlalil Mack, which is why they ultimately had to trade him. The Davis family didn't have the liquidity to escrow the guaranteed money Mack would get.

They had a chance at the Super Bowl and blew it. Taylor has been awful ever since. Play calling is really bad and the defense seems worse than ever. They can’t pay all those weapons so once will be gone next year and they’ll hope to draft more.
