I haven't seen it work at LSU for years. It hasn't changed the course of a season for the better even once. I wish Larry would stop posting articles about them.

Man they started in the off season in California so persistence may pay off, who knows.

It seems like they never produce positive results and are more a sign of desperation

It’s a bad sign and things are starting to unravel in the locker room already.

Do you think weekly players only meeting are being held in Tuscaloosa or Athens?

They’re held all the time. In most colleges and in the NFL. Nobody talks about it because it part of being on a team. Idk why it keeps being brought up like some magical solution.

Had one right before Florida last year, and LSU won. Now right after they went on the road and lost by 2 TDs to Ole Miss, but LSU was competitive in every single game after the bye. Had a chance to beat Bama, would have beat Arkansas if Johnson played the whole game at QB, and then beat ULM and TAMU.

Alabama did it in 2017 after giving up almost 400 yards and 23 points to Colorado St

UGA did it before the playoff game vs Michigan (after the loss to Bama),

UGA also did it right before the Florida game in 2020. UGA had gotten blown out by Bama then went on the road and won by 11 to a 2-3 Kentucky team (who finished 5-6). After losing that UF game, they won their next four to finish 8-2.

They are definitely over-reported. It’s like if they were breathlessly reporting about the managers affixing decals to helmets - it’s a necessary step, but it’s not newsworthy.

The causation is nonexistent. O left us in a bad spot. The season is rocky. The response is the meetings, not the cause. The season is what it is, and the meetings are incidental.

Players only meetings usually occur where the season is on the verge of coming off the track. If things are already on the verge of spiraling out of control then of course the meeting won’t work. But it is great to see the leadership and the team trying to rally together to salvage this season. Good thing they have more confidence than this fan base.

Newsflash for the rant. Productive enterprises host meetings to ensure everyone understands roles and goals.

I see this as nothing more than leaders showing accountability in understanding failures and breeding better performance.

You should call into the Brian Kelly show and ask him why he doesn’t forbid the players from having them.

LSU has had great success in the last 5-10 years after player only meetings. I am not saying the success was because of them but they've definitely seen success.

They may not work, but better to have them than not. They need communication after how bad they played Saturday.

Y’all think the season can’t get worse. It can. Tennessee is just a better team. We have more losses coming. I don’t want losses to teams we should beat. Have to keep the communication and hope alive.

LSU had one in 2017 after the loss to Troy and went on to win the rest of the regular season games except for Bama and that player ownership rolled into a Fiesta Bowl season in 2018 and in 2019...well, you know

Kelly said he wants the player on this team to take ownership and discipline themselves

There is plenty right now to complain about but these sort of things are good and it shows the leaders of tomorrow what is expected of them.
