This Tommy Casanova Purple Jersey

I doubt if that is a real Tommy Casanova jersey. I don’t remember his ever wearing purple although maybe he did and we had real shoulder stripes back then, not those little short ones.

I don’t like it anytime we wear anything other than white jerseys with gold pants and helmets.

I have a friend who was in the same class as Casanova and went through with him. Said they NEVER wore purple jerseys the whole time they were there. The only possibility of him wearing that was during a spring game !

Not the actual jersey and someone is selling that one on eBay. Likely just an old retail replica he autographed.

With that being said, wouldn’t mind LSU using this helmet style once a year.

The half stripes on the sleeves is pretty recent. I think Nike messed with that. i doubt lsu ever wore these with the gold trim.

not real, or even close.

We didn't wear purple jerseys during Casanova's time here.

And the 37 was on each sleeve, not the way it is on this jersey.

And even if we did, the jersey style was much different, and the sleeves were actual sleeves and the shoulder stripes went all the way around the arm hole, not the "suspender" stripes this jersey.

no, you're correct, and I notice the same thing.

Even if the sleeves were folded, the 7 should be showing on the back of the left sleeve and the 3 should be showing on the back of the right sleeve.

But it's backwards. The whole thing is a mess, and completely inaccurate compared to the actual jersey worn during Casanova's time here.

I love that minor color addition. (Gold outline to the white numeral) Would also like a gold outline to the current purple numeral on our traditional white jerseys. (The old Minnesota Vikings white "LSU" jersey)

That isn’t real. That stupid looking half stripe is fair new. Started in 2003 and imo the full shoulder stripes should be brought back. Only time I know of LSU ever wearing jerseys with a border on the numbers was in the 1987 sugar bowl against Nebraska.
