Next year without Nabers/BTJ and new coordinators do we see the TE's more involved? I'd like to see some two TE sets to run the ball and play action off that. With Taylor, Markaway, Pimpton and now Green we are going to have to get that position more involved to keep them here. Thoughts on how/how much we use the TEs next year

it’s interesting

we have way more talent at WR and a good freshmen class with more experience.

I wouldnt be surprised to see more 2 TE sets but also I wouldnt be surprised to see us in 11 all the time like last year.

When you have TE’s, really good ones, Kelly wants to use them. In comparison, NFL teams like this option.

FYI: The top teams in the NFL in 12 personnel usage last year were Seattle (30%), Green Bay (30%) and Kansas City (28%), according to Football Outsiders. If you count both 12 and 13 personnel, the top “tight end” teams last year were Seattle (41%), Kansas City (38%) and Tennessee (38%).

A little of trivia. A few years back one college had 4 TE’s in NFL camps in the same year. That college, Rice University. Not really known as a TE factory.

A ton, and it will be awesome. Cannot wait to see Green catch a jump ball in the end zone.

Nuss has been throwing to the backups (starters next year) as well, so the timing and chemistry will be there. RZ monsters, IMO

Yup. Sky is the limit for this offense going into next year. I like the way our schedule sets up, just hoping BK gets over the game one hump and we start rolling.

If we don’t run at least one double reverse end-around then I’m gonna be disappointed

I’m curious if Green is gonna be ready to go out the gate.

I expected Pimpton to be a little more involved this year and was kinda surprised how little he saw the field.

Hoping Green is more polished coming in and ready to be a part of the game plan from the start.

I'd love to have either Pimpton or Green to be ready to give us multiple sets out of the 12 personnel. When you can dictate who the Defense has on the field, and be able to split one out effectively it's a cheat code.

Basically what UGA could do with Bowers and Washington..... that would be a dream.

Don't get your hopes up. Kelly hasn't changed his offense in 30 years.

I don’t know about you, but I kinda enjoyed the #1 offense in college football last season

Last year looked like nothing he's ever done in his career. There were numerous times last year in 3rd/4th and short I wish we had a little more old school Brian Kelly offensive scheme.

I'd love to see that too. Both Pimpton and Green could be deadly red zone targets.

Mason Taylor had his best game of the year with Sloan calling plays

I will be surprised if Green plays a ton as a true freshman at Tight End simply because the position has to block so much. If they roll him out there to simply pass catch the defenses are going to know that is what he is out there for.

we also have WRs.

We also have a ton of RBs but don’t do 21.

some teams run 11 regardless of depth. It’s just a very versatile grouping especially when you go HUNH.

With Mason Taylor hopefully being healthy next season and all the young TEs this year being in the 2nd season this upcoming year I would expect the use of TEs to go way up, especially with a whole new group of WRs for most part as well.

Not to mention Nuss really targeted Mason a lot in the bowl game with the OC setup we're now committed to for next season. Doesnt mean because of 1 game it has to happen that way but I think it was a small preview of how much Nuss will target the TE position next year compared to what we have been doing.

Especially with a guy like Pimpton maybe also stepping up and Green coming in I dont know if they can keep him on the bench all season long.

Way more talent at WR? I would argue no you don’t. You have studs at TE. In all honesty this new TE we are getting is probably better than Arik.

The routes and passing concepts last season weren't overly complicated. But when you have two WRs as good as Nabers and Thomas they didn't need to be. The formation/play itself wasn't causing a ton of blow coverages. Nabers and Thomas were just constantly beating guys one-on-one. Daniels really didn't have to think long. If he saw Nabers or Thomas had one-on-one coverage he was letting it rip.

Obviously those to WRs won't be there next season. Plus, I think Nussmeier is more willing to attack the middle of the field...which is where TEs can really get involved. That's why I don't think it's any coincidence Taylor had a season high 7 catches in the Wisconsin game.

I don't think LSU will necessarily make it a greater point of emphasis to throw to the TEs. I just think Nussmeier is more apt to target them than Daniels was.
