Good question. Haven’t seen him in a bit, now that you bring it up.

It’s like using Justin Vincent in his later years when LSU had a bit too much momentum.

Read this as jadeveon clowney and was very confused.

He had Tommy John and has "struggled" since coming back.

Doesn’t command his offspeed well, fastball is his best pitch but even with it, he doesn’t command the zone very well. Liable to give up walks and often takes him a few batters to get comfortable.

Sounds like he fits right in.

in reality, outside a masterful performance as a freshman against Oregon in the NCAAT, I never quite understood why people just assumed he was starting rotation material. While hurt, he was consistently viewed as the missing link to our starting rotation struggles in 2022. But if you actually look at his number in 2021, he posted a 5.79 ERA a 1.53 WHIP. He was never consistent as a pitcher, so I don't want to just blame his TJ on why he's not performing now.

It was telling how Primeaux got called to pitch on Sunday, instead of Hurd and Coleman.
Nothing against Primeaux, I think he can develop to be a great pitcher here. But in a game you really need to win they put in a guy that hasn't pitched much at all this year.
That's an indictment on how some guys that were needing to produce for this team absolutely did not make it happen. It would have been nice for Coleman and Hurd to make that needed next step.

The reason many of us viewed him as a probable dominant pitcher is Stuff. He's got it. It's the same with Thatcher Hurd and Cam Johnson. The guy has great stuff. It's the same, but opposite, reason that I've never been very excited about Guidry. His stuff is just okay.
If Javen Coleman came on at the end of this season and pitched three games in a row in which he went six innings of 1 or 2 run ball it would not surprise me very much (although it would be all of a sudden). If Guidry did it I'd be as amazed as I was when Ed Orgeron won a natty.

Because it's all they remember. They don't remember the struggles before that. He is what he has always been, outside of one great start.
But you see the same idiots doing the same thing with Dutton, Helmers, Money. One good outing here or there and they all of a sudden believe that it's what will become the norm.

Primeaux will never be a factor at LSU

He had extended outings vs Bama and Aggie in late '21 where he was outstanding. Add in how he threw in Eugene as a true Fr and it seemed like he was poised for a breakout year in '22. And then the injury and hasn't been the same since.

He was a left handed pitcher when we had none. His "stuff" isn't anything amazing or in the same universe as Hurd or Cam Johnson.

Would have to dig 'em up but the Oregon coach was very complimentary of Coleman's stuff.

of course he was. Because he threw the game of his life against Oregon and they lost to him.
His strengths were supposed to be pounding the strike zone with 3 pitches and throwing a low 90s fastball. A lefty with control and decent speed on his fastball is an asset, especially in college. But that scouting report never materialized as he struggles throwing strikes and always has.
