Last week I was driving to Houston and listening to a podcast (Tough Stuff Podcast) that one of our church pastors and his wife recently started producing. The title of this one is “Who Is The Real Cecil Collins?” I’ll be the first to admit that I’ve criticized Collins for what he did while he was at LSU and used to think what a waste he was. I really haven’t thought much about him over the last 10-15 years, but if I heard his name, I would probably just assume that he was wasting away in prison somewhere. That’s not the case at all. Although he spent a considerable amount of time behind bars, he is out, happily married with a son and gives God all the glory for turning his life around. If you want to hear his uplifting personal story over the years, check it out. This was a really good reminder for me not to judge others on their past. New beginnings are always possible.

Not true on the rant - they are the only ones that can change. 1/2 were POS degenerates(drugs, whoring around, cheating in school, stealing, thugging) but are OT ballers now who straighten up. LOL

I watched the Auburn game in Tiger Stadium from 1997 the other day.

4th quarter: Cecil had just blew the roof off TS, broke off a 50 yard TD run, bouncing off of Auburn tacklers to put us in the lead. We got the ball back and put Rondell Mealey back in, who had also ran for over 100 yds that day (Faulk was hurt). I don’t if we knew how good that offensive line was at the time. We put the Diesel back in on 3rd and short and threw it. Didn’t get it and the pre-Saban brook-trout crowd boo’d even though we were leading a ranked team in the 4th. But they were right. Herb Tyler was having a terrible game. Dameyune Craig gets the ball back and they go ahead for good. I think Cecil got hurt soon after and arrested that off-season.

Tell us you were a drug, whoring around, cheating in school, stealing, thugging POS degenerate without telling us.

My brother in Christ, If Cecil can turn it around, so can you.

Redemption is for everyone. ALL
No matter who you are
No matter what you've done
No matter what's been done to you
GOD LOVES YOU!

His talent, nevertheless, WAS the biggest wasted talent on the LSU football field ever.
True redemption is real - not a fake act many put up on Sunday mornings.
God bless the man and his family.

This was the perfect example of when a coach outthinks himself. Herb could have taken the offense to the line, yelled “we’re giving it to Cecil off tackle!!”, do exactly that, and STILL make the first down. But, no.

The fact that Gerry D was stubborn enough to not hand off to Cecil or tell Herb to keep it is why he got fired. Good luck to Cecil. Life is full of opportunities. Hope he makes the most of his latest.

Glad to hear it. It takes real work to change course. Good for him.

You wouldn’t know if he was alone with your daughter. Neither would she.

Cecil Collins was sentenced Tuesday to 15 years in prison, less than two hours after a jury convicted him of sneaking through a neighbor's window to watch her sleep.

Of course not, I wouldn't leave you alone with my daughter either, I don't know either of you personally.

Dinardo knew the guy at the time was trash personified. I was founding member of Gridiron Club back then we got Gerry every Friday. He couldn’t even talk about the guy he disrespected him so much rightfully so.
