It was a song. Ragtime era I believe.

Because they are part of the lyrics to Tiger Rag.

The tune, Tiger Rag, is a jazz standard copyrighted in 1917 by Original Dixieland Jazz Band. The Lyrics were added in 1931 by Harry DeCosta. Simple lyrics that consist of “Hold that tiger,” “Here’s that tiger,” and “Where's that
tiger?” Repeated.
Not specific to LSU but folds in nicely. Think I have ever only heard Hold that tiger sang at tiger stadium.

I always understood it to mean, don't let Mike out of his cage to maul the opponent.

Yeah, and next ask us " wouldn't "tiger bait" be used to capture a tiger?
Im surprised no-one has said "it's the theme song of the Bama OL & DL"

Can't we have one civilized conversation? Chicken, would you create a discussion board called "just civil discussion" It is painful to read all the wasted negative energy. Why do you people wake up mad every day and bring it here?

Because "Hold That Liger" just doesn't carry the same oomph.

Just wondering WTF the number of post someone has to do with anything? If someone post more they are more intelligent?

It’s the lyrics to a portion of Tiger Rag, which when slowed down makes the 4 note salute of pregame, and when sped up is our first down “geaux tigers” cheer.

Bama OL/DL superiority has been the #1 factor in all those loses.
LSU has not even been close in both talent and coaching.
LSU DL getting closer, but OL still not there. (Grimes/Cregg

It remains to be seen if #48 will do anything at all to fix it in recruiting, scheme, development and coaching.
