Their main tower is in Jackson, LA and depending on weather and other factors, it makes it shitty.

They’ve come on and said they have no control over it

It’s not anything the radio station can control.

104.5/104.5 is always bad around campus which makes no sense

I think its total crap they say they have no control! Put out a better product, I specifically don't listen for this reason! Get a stronger signal, or change towers

because the sun comes up and they don't have license to add power to the station.

if it makes sense $ wise, 98.1 or 100.7 may go sports talk in the future. they're much higher power stations.

thank the fellas at the freakin FCC -Peter Griffin

Yes they can. I’ve contacted 104.9 and asked them about their spotty reception in different parts of BR, having two channels 1045 and 1049 and brought up the morning signal.
Their response:

“Download the app.”

It’s purposely not fixed because they’re trying to push people to the app. I just want to get in my car and drive. I don’t want to have to connect devices, open apps, etc.

They push people to the app because they can’t control the power of the tower they use. That call comes from above anyone that is working day to day on the radio station.

Then maybe just call WWL and ask for some advice. I bet I can get their clear signal in Montana.

Is this really that hard to understand? They use a different stronger tower. Just like 98.1 does. 104.5/104.9 has tied into that tower if you have HD radio and can listen on there and catch it wherever you get 98.1.

It's called fog. Those stations don't have much power to begin with. 97.7 is worse, I can't even pick up Walton & Johnson in Gonzales.

I asked Mascona on his Facebook live once. He went to some shite about the tower . In other words they are some cheap frickers that own the station. But a bigger tower damn it

The towers are controlled through the FCC. Some towers have huge signal strength (870am, 98.1fm) and others have weaker signals (104.5, 104.9). The radio stations essentially “rent” these towers for their stations. There is no switch they could flip to “boost” the signal to increase their strength.

Espn BR used to just have 104.5 which is located in Jackson,la. Their signal suffered in south BR and ascension parish so the they went out and got the 104.9 tower in Donaldsonville to increase their range in those areas.

They could essentially move the espn station to 98.1. But I think Eagle 98.1 fetched a wider audience that sports radio.
