quote:

“I’d be lying if I told you I thought three years ago that I knew an opportunity like this would come again,” Wade said during his introductory news conference Tuesday. “I did not, I did not. I'm thankful."

quote:

There were also offerings of humility and contrition. He thanked McNeese for taking “a chance" on him. He promised a passionate approach here “without all the arrogance that got me in trouble," adding N.C. State would “get the best version of me.”

quote:

During a later interview with The Associated Press, Wade also refused to use today's changed climate in the sport — with allegations of payments tied to Wade's LSU ouster essentially legal now with college athletes allowed to profit from their fame — as a pass.

“That to me is a cop-out," Wade told the AP. “When I was doing that, it was illegal. Just because it’s legal now doesn’t mean it was the right thing to do then. And I think that’s the way that some people rationalize some things, but that’s not the reality of what it was. It wasn’t right to do then and, you know, I paid for it.”

quote:

Wade said during his news conference that the LSU aftermath forced him to have “some hard conversations" with himself. Wolfpack athletic director Boo Corrigan needed to hear about those, too, when he met with Wade in Houston during the search.

quote:

"You've still got to have the same confidence, but it’s not a cockiness or an arrogance to the sense of you’re never going to get caught or nothing’s ever going to (happen),” Wade told the AP. “That’s where the line is.”

He seems sincere. We all make mistakes. I wish him well.

Sounds like he's grown up and taken accountability.

Someone asked a while back why would Wade want to come back to LSU and I listed 5-6 bullet points. One of those was him taking ownership and proving he's grown as a person.

Unfortunately LSU didn't give him the opportunity to do it here.

Well... I don't pull against State in the ACC, so I'll wish him well. As long as he can beat UNC, because State has historically had trouble doing that.

He has no choice but to say stuff like this. Doesn't mean it was right for us to throw him to the curb.

Dude is taking ownership and you use that as an opportunity to shite on him more? How righteous of you.

He'd still be here otherwise

Was in the wrong AND did not cooperate in the process. Had poor legal representation

Respect for Wade. He can admit his faults, has matured, and has never expressed any ill will toward LSU. He'll have NC State in the Final Four within three years.

Is that why the IRAP exonerated him of all the major allegations?

During his presser he said one thing that has changed is that he now realizes he doesn’t need any single player or thing to happen. Sounds to me like the payments were tied to his desperation to win on a particular recruit as well as a program as a whole wrapped into acquiring that recruit where he maybe focused on that particular situation and made bad decisions to accomplish a goal. He spoke today that he understands that he doesn’t need anything and can make it work in other ways if it doesn’t happen with a particular player making it seems like he has a more mature and less desperate approach than what he appeared to be acknowledging how he operated before.

fricking Wade fanboys and their “he didn’t get caught” errr what did he do…

I said from day one that has he not got caught he would have sued LSU for breach of contract.

HE BROUGHT IT ON HIMSELF!

What was Wade caught doing? Some of you really need to read what was actually proven during the IRAP.

Is he just now coming to acknowledge this? Maybe he has. But if not, I think it’s odd timing to air it out now.
Oh well, better late than never.
I’m sure he’ll generate some excitement in the program.

This Louisiana mentality is why the state struggles where it shouldn’t. And I guess that’s why we’re always nationally ranked tops in corruption!

I'll give him some credit for being honest. He can afford to be honest now.

But its going to to be hard to forget this abortion he not only put in motion then exacerbated by lying to the AD (twice) about his cooperation in an ongoing investigation (while the AD was also dealing with a potentially serious football allegation).

Karma is real, and its a bitch.

Explain your Karma logic here.

If it's all on Wade, wouldn't Karma have LSU succeeding and Wade failing?

Ask WW … he basically acknowledged that what he did was doing was illegal at the time.

Glad to hear him speak with humility instead of arrogance. I’m an NC State fan and was apprehensive about the hire but his press conference was impressive. He’s coming into the ACC at a good time because the conference is way down. With his ability to recruit, he’ll have the Wolfpack back in the tournament next year.

Karma is not linear, you may have to think on that awhile but give it a shot.
