Other than Shores the pitching wasn’t all that bad yesterday. Jay should probably move him to mid week so that he can gain some confidence again.

Are you kidding me? How about throwing a strike? Pretty sure Big Ben was hitting on this without coming out and saying it about LSU pitching. He said, “I don’t care how hard you throw if you can’t throw effective strikes.” He further stated I don’t care what your spin rate or v-low is if you can’t throw strikes. LSU pitching has been cursed by walks at huge moments. The one guy hit the netting behind home plate on a 3-2 pitch with the bases loaded. So happy you could hit 98 mph. How bout working on your accuracy and throw it 94? Hell throw it 85 if that is what it takes to throw a damn strike!

Shores

Yeah the 3 run bomb was the difference.

The maddening thing about Shores is he is an elite arm guy. But one out of every 20-25 pitches he just throws one right in the wheelhouse. That was that dudes 6th home run of the season........

I think Mayer’s last pitch hit the netting three rows up.

as bad as it was, Shores outing was not the worst yesterday. Schmidt, Noot, Rizy, and Mayers all couldn't even throw strikes. At least Shores made them swing the bat. Williams had the only good performance yesterday. Ware and Primeaux were good enough. Then I'd put Shores above the rest of the garbage

I mean…. shores gave up 5/7 runs.

arguably other guys had worse outings but he’s is still a massive problem and has been most of his outings.

Shores can be a bullpen arm on the weekends with a short leash.

He does not need to see the field in SEC Play. Look up his numbers. They are the worst on the team.

It’s amazing how Schmidt was crowned the second coming, but other freshman across the conference are out performing him

He isn’t one of our top freshman pitchers. He hasn’t adjusted to college ball yet.

Bama closer was throwing it 75 over the plate and struck out the meat of our order in the bottom of the 9th. Location > velocity

I just believe his arm slot on most pitches is too low. I realize he is tall, but when you are throwing the off-speed stuff, you need to keep the elbow higher. He drops it down and the ball just spins over the heart of the plate or he over compensates and he bounces it. I still don’t hold Yeskie in high regard. He needs to prove he can coach an entire staff.

Need to hire Big Ben as pitching coach. He was trying to coach the pitchers from the booth all weekend. And he was probably right.

As a starter you are correct. A bullpen guy that gives max effort every pitch to face 3-5 batters he can do.

Think LSU to seriously consider Cowan as a starter. I think he has earned it. Is he more valuable in long relief? Don't know. Considering how inconsistent the pen is they might see Cowan as more valuable out of the pen and you don't know what Shores would give you out of the pen either. I think it's worth trying though at least 1 weekend. I think Cowan starting then Shores right behind him could be really good combo do to how each throws.
