quote:I have 100 shares of MSTR. Say its current price is $320.
Please explain to me like I’m 8. If you just did, then 5 I’m new to all of this
I sell you a call option on an agreed upon future MSTR price, say $350.
You pay me a fee up front.
If we reach the expiration date of the call and MSTR is at $380, you have the right to tell me “yo, I’m buying those 100 MSTR shares.”
I sell them to you for the agreed upon $350 x 100 shares and keep the fee. You buy 100 shares of MSTR from me for $350 per share when it’s trading at $380. Yay for you.
If MSTR is trading at $280 on the day of expiration, you just say “hey I don’t want those shares.” I keep my shares and the fee you paid me. You’re only down the fee you paid me.

You’re exactly correct
Thank you

Thanks for the tip. Definitely sounds like something I'll have to study adding your tips.
I think I can even call Fidelity to see how to do it in their system and get some coaching. I'll have to learn up on it first to understand the best I can. Thanks again.

Ok....with BTC down this wknd, thoughts on how hard MSTR is going to get hit in the premarket? At open tomorrow if BTC doesn't climb out of its funk?
Hoping my MSTU doesn't keep getting hit as it made up almost half of my loss this week, on Friday. :fingers-crossed:

quote:of course you remain at risk that the stock will drop below 36.36 and you take a loss on it. you said you didnt want to hold it so we can assume you'll sell at a loss which comes out of your 125.00 (below 35.11 and you're underwater). we can also assume you've set a stop loss at 35.11.
The stock does not go to $37. I still get the premium and still own my shares. So I will sell another for the following week.
important to describe the whole scenario

My wild guess is BTC is kind of bearish this week but we see the recent trend flip and MSTR is bullish this week outperforming BTC.

How is it a loss unless he sells itt? In your quote of him, he states " I would sell another call"

I can see that being the cAse now. Thinking about how MSTR being in the NASDAQ100 officially tomorrow could help balance out what BTC is doing. One would think but last week of the year can do wonders I guess.
Then there's the piece being talked about Saylor not able to buy anymore BTC, so I'm guessing there's 1 more announcement saying how much he bought right before Wed, as I'm thinking the 40day prior mark is Thursday the 26th. So once it's announced I'm thinking it's good the BTC price is low right now. I kind of thought his buying was helping drive it and if he stopped it may not have that auto-buyer in the market so its going down.
Anyway just amateur spit balling here. I like the strategy behind it all

I also meant to add, for what it's worth, my Fidelity account has MSTR as "Very Bearish" rating of .6 (out of 10 I think)

They are haters trying to sell you at a price.
If you believe BTC goes up in 2025, hold and ignore the FUD (fear uncertainty doubt)
They spread FUD to buy lower. MSTR is soaring in 2025

So I figured this was coming but dang the avg price is high compared to this weeks prices. I wonder if MSTRs board is telling Saylor to buy more this week to help bring down that avg cost, before his pause period starts on THURS/FRI.
quote:Yahoo Finance
The company bought 5,262 BTC for a total of $561 million in the week ended Dec. 22 to take its total holdings to 444,262 BTC it said.
The purchase, at an average price of $106,622 per bitcoin, was teased by Executive Chairman Michael Saylor in a Sunday post on X. It brings the value of MicroStrategy's holdings to $42.2 billion at current market prices and raises the average cost to $62,257 per bitcoin. The latest acquisitions were funded by share sales under the company's at-the-market program (ATM). MicroStrategy has $7.08 billion left on the ATM program. The announcement comes the same day that MicroStrategy starts trading as a member of the Nasdaq 100 equity index.

As I said before, I believe most understand your point, but trying to take advantage of it. Taking those kind of chances is what it's all about to make money no?
I made a mistake with the timing of MSTU, but I'm solidly up on my MSTR right now. My mistake was more due to freaking Powell than MSTR though.
This conversation is to keep tabs on any kind of grift, to make decisions, as all companies have their own kind of grift just some more risky than others. At least that's a big part of my reason, plus learning from the seasoned.
For me...what else do I have to do then to take a chance on this "grift" and see/learn how to capitalize?? You do you and I/we do me/we. Though I do like seeing your counters cause you do provide a solid opinion to keep tabs on.
