BGFV (Big Five Sporting Goods)

BGFV has a special cash dividend of $1/share on Dec 1. and a regular cash dividend of $0.25. Need to be a share holder as of Nov 17 to be eligible for the Div.

I'll wait for it to get back down to $25.
Did they make this announcement during their earnings report & that's why it jumped 50% this week? They just missed on the estimated EPS.
What is Big 5 Sporting Goods anyways? Like Dick's or Academy, I guess? I've never seen one.

yea i think its becasue the 11/3 announcement, but if you read twitter or stock twits its "short squeezing" lol
they have 430 locations, i think its comparable to ASO, but Market watch has their competitors listed as FootLocker, Hibbett, and Dicks.

thats how i felt when ASO IPO'd. i thought id wait out the hype....yea that was when it was $15....bought in at $38.

It is a TERRIBLE sports store. I’m honestly shocked they were still around when I googled it a month ago seeing if any sporting store in the area had a certain golf ball lol they literally carry the worst of the worst stuff. Worst quality brands across the board, you’d never find any traditional sports athletic item that is common place or even moderately priced.
However (don’t know if this is still a thing in CA) but I remember growing up it was like the only “main stream” place you could buy guns and ammo. I’d imagine that kept them going for a while when they pivoted to more of an outdoorsy type of store and away from traditional athletic gear.
Idk anything about this stock tho lol. Just scrolling through the board and was dumbfounded people are into Big5

Much much smaller. They’re like the size of CVS and can be found in those types of shopping centers. We had them all over Orange County.

It's headquartered in El Segundo, CA. I wouldn't have known myself but I used to drive by it every once in a while.
El Segundo has quite a few headquarters for being a small-medium size town.
