What is the best way to negotiate on the vehicle? Any tips are welcome.

I see some 2024 Silverado’s advertised 10k off. That’s the best deal I’ve seen in a while this early in the new year…. I’m debating on one myself.

Shop around at multiple dealers for the truck you want. Ask for their best price out the door for said truck you are looking at they have on lot - you should do all this over email/internet. Once you get prices, start comparing and use those to negotiate some if you need to for whatever reason you may have. Never know what someone might offer you in the end.
Use tools like truecar to see what people are paying for a particular truck in your area. Sometimes if you buy out of area you could potentially save more if inventory is higher elsewhere. Just be willing to travel some to get the best deal if thats what you're looking for. If you can save another grand or two off the price of the vehicle, it might even be worth it to go a few hours away to buy it in that instance.

I just bought a 2023 F-150 and handled just about all of it via email (they had a good amount on the lot). Told them I was shopping multiple dealerships and that I wasn't stepping foot into their dealership until we basically had an agreement done virtually (with my trade-in). Got everything I needed and they were only $500 difference on trade-in value due to a cracked windshield. I was in and out of the dealership with new truck in about an hour and a half.

expand your search geographically as far as you can. If you're in LA, at least look at Houston/DFW areas. @guydealership on twitter is a good follow for vehicles getting biggest discounts. I would expect Ram to have biggest cuts currently, but the big 3 all seem to be discounting

Find the online forums of the brand you want to buy. There are dealers that operate solely on volume to get the large quarterly kickback from the manufacturer. Those dealers will often openly advertise on the forums. Contact dealer and strike a deal.

First thing I would do if I were gonna finance it is contact my credit union and prearrange financing, then search online for dealers within a couple hundred miles.
Find the best price on the truck you want and contact the dealer that has it, verify they have what the ad shows and get the VIN and description. Tell them you’ll be coming to look at the vehicle and set an approximate date and time.
Now, go the local dealer and find the truck that matches the one you already found, tell the local dealer you have an offer on a truck just like theirs and see if they will match the price, they’ll probably try to give you a little run around but let them know you have no problem walking out and going to the other dealer, show them a screen shot of the truck you talked to the other dealer about so they know you’re not playing them. Tell them either they can sell it to you for the price or the other dealer can but one way or the other you’re buying a truck within the next 2 days.
I’d suggest checking Capitol Chevrolet in Austin, they’ve had the low price on the last 3 that I’ve bought, two I ended up buying from them and one the local dealer swallowed the lie they told me when I first called and they matched the Capitol price, cut about $10,000 off a 2022 Chevy Silverado during Covid when nobody was cutting deals.
Most dealers that have internet sales will deliver to you so if you’re several hours away it lets them compete with the locals and keep them a little more honest.

Find the truck you want and be prepared to pay cash. Walk in the dealership and say,
“I have three dealerships on my list. You have the first chance. I’m paying cash. Give me the best you can do on that truck. If I don’t like it I’m walking. You have 30 minutes and one shot.”
After they make their price proposal…walk. Wait for their phone call within the next 30 minutes. Drive back and buy truck or drive to the next dealership and do the same.
You’ll end up with a steal.

The dealership doesn't give a shite if you are paying cash. In many cases that's actually worse for them.

I have been looking for a while. I have found a 2023 GMC truck with 16,000 miles and a 2year warranty. MSRP of 71k. I’ve got them down to 59500 out the door. I will have to drive 200 miles to get it. Still think it’s too much. What do y’all think

Curious what the msrp was.
What the discount was.
Then the extra fees you agreed to en route to the OTD.
Sounds like you did well.

$10k off of an extremely inflated MSRP isn't that enticing.
Still hard to grasp how all of the dopes were paying MSRP+ just over a year ago.

Horrible advice.

I agree MSRP’s are extremely inflated but 10k off at this point in the new model year is the best deal I’ve seen in at least 3 years.
I’m personally waiting a while longer to see if the deals get better.
I did look at that Austin dealership posted above and they are 11.5k off of a 2024 Chevy

I always get the VIN number then plug it into KBB and act like it's my vehicle and see what value they give on it. That's my starting point. Recently purchased a 2023 Toyota Tundra Capstone with 9000 miles on it for $65,000. Felt like a really good deal as the KBB said trade in value was $68,000- $72,000. Also got a good rate at a local credit union and a 125,000 mile Toyota Platinum warranty for $850.

Its not the MSRP thats the main issue, it's greedy dealers throwing in $5k of accessories you dont want and putting THAT into the "final price" of the vehicle.
Not to say vehicle prices havent gone up, they have, but when a $50k MSRP truck has a "final price" of $56k because 6 grand of dealer accessories are factored in and they want to make you think you're getting a "Deal" if you can get it for $51k, that's a problem.
