Cell phone insurance

What, if anything, do you guys use for phone insurance?
Maybe a better deal out there, but I have a Wells Fargo autograph credit card that gives 3% back on my cell bill and provides free insurance up to $600 (each claim) for two claims a year on any phones on the plan I pay with the credit card. $25 dollar deductible. No Annual fee.
I've used it twice since I got it. Once for my son breaking his screen last year and just this year due to my 4 year old phone USB charging port wearing out.
Submitting a claim is a little bit of a pain as you have to take it to a repair place and get a diagnosis and detailed estimate to fix and an estimate to replace. Then include a screenshot/pdf printout to show...
1. You paid the last cell bill with the credit card.
2. That specific model phone is tied to your cell account.
Was pretty easy to do with the second claim since I had done it before and knew exactly what all they wanted.
Anyway, maybe something better out there, but for free I think it's a pretty sweet deal. It also has some other decent cash back % on travel, certain streaming services, etc. There are some other cards that offer it as well or close to it like chase freedom flex.
They did pay me both times pretty quickly once I submitted what they wanted with no issues and paid me over what the phone was worth at the time according to several places I could have purchased it from.

I buy it through Apple with the Theft rider. Don't ask me if it's a good deal. I just figured they'd be the best ones to replace or fix it.

This sound about right?

Have used this twice as well. I think this is the best you can do for free

I only buy insurance on things I can’t afford to replace.

Is this some sort of stupid brag? I mean... I'm getting free insurance. Sure I could pay to replace my phone, but it's not like they are cheap and are definitely easy to break.
I guess you don't have a case for yours either. I mean why pay to protect something that you can afford to replace.
I have drone insurance for 60 dollars a year, cause the drone isn't exactly cheap and its definitely a high risk device.

Never knew this was a thing until this thread.. Does not look like Chase offers it through their sapphire cards though. I would never pay for insurance on a phone, but the credit card perk is something to keep in mind

FWIW I ran over my brand new iPhone 15 pro (fell out of my pocket) with my tractor and road grader.. twice. It only broke the cheap screen protector and didnt damage the phone in the slightest. That thing really is titanium.

You would also need to look at your cell phone carrier. Several months ago Tmobile dropped the $10 a month discount if you use a credit card for auto pay. I had to switch my payment from credit card to an auto draft from my checking account to keep the $10 discount.

I'm an old simple choice NA plan for many years through T-Mobile. They have tried a lot of things to get me off the plan, phones etc...
Just never made any sense to move off of it though

AMEX platinum card offers cellphone coverage “….reimbursed for your repair or replacement costs following damage or theft up to $800 per claim”. I have the card but never had to use the coverage.

With a $695 annual fee it just doesn't make sense for me, I'm sure it does for some though.

I never had it before this card either. But with two kids, myself, and my wife all having phones it made sense to get the card when included with the fact it does 3% cash back on vrbos and airbnbs which we use more than hotels.
Technically my phone was just ready to be upgraded cause it was older and the USB port wore out, but it saved me about 3/4 the cost of my new one. So...
Anyone can hate on it all they want, I still think it's a sweet deal.

My daughter just broke her 15 Pro. Now I’m curious how the hell she did it.
That being said I have insurance on my teenagers phones. I don’t have it on mine.

So I just upgraded to the new galaxy ultra. During preorder they offered a deal, it was $60 total one time payment for 2 years of insurance. Was way too good to pass up!

I've never considered buying insurance for any of our phones. Not sure how much it even costs. Cases & screen protectors have always accomplished their purpose for us in the past.

Stupid brag? Trust me, we live in two different worlds. Get off my lawn.

Like I said, you are just bragging. It's free insurance. I wasn't suggesting anyone pay for it.
If 400-1200 dollars isn't a lot to you, then great. But that's enough to most people they'd rather not have to turn around and spend 3 months later when they accidently break their phone, etc if they didn't have too. And it's not just covering my phone, it's covering my wife and kids as well... for free. So 2400 dollars worth of coverage that costs me absolutely nothing.
But you are right, two different worlds, I don't get excited about taking a piss next to old white dudes in suits, so... definitely different.
