Looks like they're the same thing but one is an ETF and one is a mutual fund. The mutual fund is slightly more expensive to manage by .01%.

Fidelity apparently doesn't let you automatically invest in ETFs but will with mutual funds. I was planning on having an automatic transfer and then manually investing those funds through Fidelity into VUG each month. However it looks like I can do the automatic investment and not have to really touch it at all if I invest in VIGAX.

Basically is there any reason why I shouldn't invest in VIGAX over VUG? They seem to be basically the same thing with a very very slightly higher managing cost. Let me know if there's something I'm missing.

The point of this fund is separate from my retirement. I likely won't be selling stocks very often. Likely down the road from now if I need a boost on a big purchase. Basically this is me just getting more money in the market but in a more flexible way than retirement.

I think you're spot on. I only invest in VIGAX since it allows automatic monthly purchases. I've bought VUG as well but that was last March when everything was tanking and I was just picking up broad ETFs during the low point.

Ok I’ll need to build the fund up a little because they have a $2500 minimum but I’ll switch over to that once I hit that number.
