I’m tired of breaking my plastic debit card. My metal credit cards never break or snap.

TIA

There are companies that make metal and even gold cards that work just like your bank's card. Just google "metal debit card". I have no idea how safe they are but some of the companies have been around awhile.

Or you can go with this:

There's a BUNCH of metal cards these days. My latest addition was the Gemini card that earns crypto in real time. It's actually the heaviest of my metals.

Using phone > physical card.

And it feels like magic every time, so there's that.

But I get you need a physical card for some instances.

Your plastic cards keep snapping? Is this a real problem? I've never had that happen once in decades of card use. Weird.
Do you use it for other purposes like scrapping ice off windshields?

As is the Ritz Carlton card and it weighs about 3X as much. Heavy little thing.

I agree, but, we are still so far from what I've found as a payment society where you can go completely without carrying a card....because at least a couple times a week I go somewhere where tap to pay simply doesnt work from my phone...and it's Samsung pay which works beyond just NFC. So it covers more bases than just NFC tap to pay and still wont work at times.

But really the biggest thing is paying at sit-down restaurants, they bring you the bill, you give them a card, they go run it at a POS station. Would be awkward to have to get up and go follow server to tap to pay at a POS kiosk every time. Now obviously some restaurants bring a machine to you, but I've still found that to be extremely rare. Like literally maybe 1 in 10-20 sit down restaurants I go to does that happen.

Getting downvoted for saying NFC is superior (no debate security wise) then this wall of text when I acknowledged that sometimes a physical card is needed....

This board is so full of tight asses.

Why are you using a debit card with any real frequency?

There's a couple of companies that will convert your card into a custom metal card etc. I'd have to search for it, but definitely have seen enough tiktok videos to know it exists.

How else are you going to access hard, physical cash? I’m not driving to my bank/branch every time I want a couple hundred to pay bar tabs or throw at strippers.

Great topic, though. I’ve had the same problem and am eager to hear solutions.

Was what I was wondering. I have never broken a plastic credit card except on purpose.

Debit card != ATM card

So guess you really use it as an ATM card. Even though it is combined with your debit card

I didn’t realize that! It seems so.

These debit cards aren’t made of nearly as strong a plastic as credit cards. If you carry it in a wallet much they will definitely give up the ghost.
