Fannie Mae: Common stock vs Preferred stock

The chances have never been higher that both Fannie and Freddie will be unwound from conservatorship. I currently own 5,100 shares of common stock but curious to hear the MT opinion if I should move to preferred?
Fannie Mae book value is $77B and current market cap is $2.5B(roughly). This is a lottery ticket stock but could I get screwed by being in the commons when it eventually unwinds?

I've been watching that stock for 10 years. Good luck

Which preffered are you looking at? There are multiple under both Fannie and Freddie.

I thought so too in 2013 when I was the smartest man alive. Sell on a pop or RIP.

What is your cost basis for the commons? Assuming you bought this after the crash, you could really hit the lottery depending on how things go. But who really knows at this point. Trump winning certainly helps.
I have a couple hundred shares of preferreds and 750 shares of commons and thinking about buying more...

The Democrats will fight tooth and nail to keep Fannie/Freddie as pseudo-Government owned entities. It would be terrific if it happened but you would need a lot more Republican senators and congressmen to make it happen.
