For new construction? Anybody build recently or is in construction. I know amenities play a big role but just trying to get an idea or average.
TIA

I would guess $120-130 not counting the land.

Not counting land.
And when you get estimates do they do it off of living or under roof?

I've got both. I'm about a month away from finishing right now. I'm in St James Parish and I'll end up around $75 under roof and $122 living. My under roof area almost doubles my living though so it can vary a good bit.

If I add in my land I'm at $148/sqft based on living

We build for around $60-$65 under roof. With granite kitchen and baths, 10' ceilings, 7' windows and stainless appliances.

That makes me feel a lot better.
Are you in the area?

I've gotten several quotes in Livingston Parish recently.
Excluding land, they have been around 115-130 per sf living
My plans are a fairly large house with a lot of extra sf under roof
The only thing I went cheap on was going with stained concrete flooring.
Should start my house in the next 3 months

With the price of materials in today's market, I would run from house specs in sub apartment grade price per ft2. I wouldn't make enemies with a big bad wolf for that matter.
Hell impact fees, permits, and sewer/water tap alone eat up a good chunk of your number.
Granite? Remnants are free if you pay for install if you're going that route. I can get a Frigidaire stainless package for $1500 so nothing there. 7" vinyl low e is cheap cheap as well.
There are several builder in that market in more of that 110-150ft2. I'd buy pre existing construction before a 60/ft2 house
Edit - Checked out "Evangline" model you build for 60/ft on Cretin website. I know how you're hitting that number.

I'm right under 6000 under roof but 1000 of that is a MIL attached apartment.

Tell me how, just curious to what you think?

I got a bid from Townsend homes. They gave me a really good price to start but once I "upgraded" everything I wanted they came in higher than the custom builders I checked out.

Ours was about $110ish minus the cost of the land 2 years ago. Granite, brick, like 23 windows. wife got 3 ovens. A good deal of non living space. It's 3500 living and 5000 under roof. Prairieville. We used a contractor.
The plans make a big impact on the cost as well as the finishings.

Not counting land, probably in the high $120s.
I know that in our neighborhood, homes that were built 4 and 5 years ago are being listed for $138 to $142 per sq. ft.
Hope this helps.
