Do you know anything about FIN701 with Lynn Kendall? Class structure, syllabus? Anything? I’ve heard horror stories about the course itself. So nervous as I’m new to the program.

Acct 701 Huang, LI
MADM 701 Williams, Kim
AP2
FIN 701 Choi

Thoughts?

Spring 2021 will be my final semester in the program. I ran into an issue enrolling in specialty courses for the international business specialization because there is only one course available. Does anyone know of a way around this issue, have experienced a situation like this before, or if admissions add more courses as the semester goes on? Usually, I enroll in the first week of open enrollment, but, due to a new and ridiculous transcript hold, I am a few weeks later than usual.

fin730 has not been bad at all. Discussions and Papers are easy 100%s... just make sure you hit the basic rubrics of word camp, cite the minimum sources, and string together something thats coherent and you are golden.
the tests are a bit of a pain... they are every other week and covers 2 weeks of material which is 4+ chapters. All answers from exam can be derived out of slides and many are identical to practice problems. I got 95 and 90% on the first 2 exams without touching the textbook.
If you want to hack through this class you could probably abandon even trying to learn the math problems entirely and just just focus on the slide material and basic questions in practice exam. That should still be good enough for an A.

I didn't pair any classes, For your AP1, I have taken either of those professors. The professors for each class can make a huge difference. Use ratemyprofessor.com to find which teachers are best. or the Google Docs sheet
FIN 701 - I had Lynn Kendall, really engaged, highly accessible and breaks down the material to easily understand - she also allows a formula sheet into the quizzes.
In your AP 2 - of the first two classes, ECON705 took more effort, my prof was Tim Shaughnessy, a really engaged teacher that held two zoom classes each week to go over upcoming exam questions, this kind of engagement is rare at LSUS MBA, I highly recommend him, the class took abt 20 hrs a week. For MADM 760, I had Sammy Wyatt, another excellent teacher, he was engaged just differently that Dr. S, again abt 20 hours a week. I got an A in each course.

Contact the MBA coordinator Daria Koksal via email. They have been great about getting me into closed courses when I need to take them.

I'll repeat from another post:
I took her course. I found her thoughtful and well engaged, she and the TA were easily accessible via email. She did a good job of covering the basics, if you have any finance background it might be a bit slow. All in all a good experience. I got an A in the class. BTW, she lets you take a formula chart to each exam, so there's no need to memorize formulas. You just need a Texas Instruments BA II Plus, less than $20 on Amazon. The formula sheet eliminates any need to memorize formulas. You'll do fine.

Try doing a Boolean search in Google and it will lead to scholarly articles.
The LSUS library also allows you access to JStor, so try searching in JStor and then signing in with your LSUS credentials if you find something interesting.
Lastly, try using the search database function at the LSUS library.

I had Wyatt for MADM 760 and Shaughnessy for Econ 705, they are both really good teachers and Dr. S has two Zoom sessions a week to cover ALL of the upcoming quiz questions. I would recommend.

I found Heller's quizzes intuitive IF you thoroughly read the chapters and write out (copy) the PPT review slides, I followed this procedure each week and found the questions largely easy to answer. ALSO, there are two fairly easy questions from BOTH of the youtube Ted talks. I watched each one twice, again, the questions were relatively straightforward.
