I’ll assume 100 yard dash for the older backs, 100 meter dash for the more recent ones. That’s all one can guess for now.

That's what I figured, but I'm wondering why it matters. Track speed is different than speed on the field. And how often is a RB running a full 100yds?

Would you mind showing which distance applies to which athlete, though?

Why run the 40?

TONS of NFL players were HS/College track guys TONS, hell Henry ran track in HS.

I;m just sharing the facts being a track history buff on the realities of speed in the NFL. Hell they clocked Henry so it must matter.

You can tell OP’s football knowledge is derived entirely from playing Madden on Xbox. “Running back has 99 speed! That means he’s the best!”

Fast doesn’t mean shite if you have the vision of Trent Richardson aka Stevie Wonder or the elusiveness of an elephant.

You;d have to ask John Henry Johnson who broke a dozen face masks with a punch/straight arm/forearn shiver.

What is the point of this topic? Yes, there are faster RB's than Henry, but his sheer size in conjunction with his speed is what makes him so good. His long arse legs also contribute since it looks very hard to tackle him low once he gets going.

Also, he has what you call "long speed" as his initial acceleration is not elite, but once he does, his top end is. He also works his arse off to get better at the things he needs to improve and that showed on his 76 yard run last night. Have you seen him accelerate in the open field like that before? He looks to have improved his leg speed and that is downright scary.
