Interesting seeing Steve Spurrier as the 49ers punter, John Brodie, a QB that's been forgotten. Walt Garrison, Dan Reeves, Mike Ditka all played for the Cowboys, 49ers had NOLA native and HoFamer Rosie Taylor and Gene Washington who was a fantastic Wideout. Dallas came into this game not having given up a TD in 21 quarters.
Legendary Ray Scott on the call with Summerall as color.

A week or two later, I was in Tulane Stadium watching that Cowboy team beat the Miami Dolphins in the Super Bowl. I was 13 years old and it was freezing cold that day. ......................Edit - Okay, make that one year and one week later.

Was HUGE for Dallas to win that game and advance to their first Super Bowl, remember 4 preceding seasons ended with losses in the NFL Championship Game to the Packers (expected) and losses in the divisional round to the inferior Browns (inexplicable). If Dallas lost this game short of the Super Bowl again, they would’ve never lived it down reputation-wise.

The Dallas-Miami Super Bowl in NO was actually played in 1972 at the conclusion of the 1971 season. The Dal-SF 1971 NFC title game was played in Dallas. The YouTube game in question preceded the Baltimore-Dallas SB and the Cowboys lost that one.

Back then, the Cowboys were known, somewhat sarcastically, as "Next Year's Champions".
