Washington by a hair.
Both of their top 10 wins were on the road, and everyone else they played they blew out
and they win the common opponent war in MOV

well, it looks like miami might have played a touch harder schedule, but washington never played a close game.
Basically, i dont know but would have been a helluva bowl game.

Washington. Miami should have lost to FSU. Wash really had zero close games and blew out a really Good Mich team in the Bowl.

They would have if they didn't shrink the goalposts.

And to think, there is complaining about the BCS, but at least these two teams would have played each other.
The Overall opponents records may be a relevant stat or not. One bad team on Washington's schedule may be the reason for that. I'd like to see the actual W/L of their opponents.
Also, opponent win/loss may be irrelevant when you see that Wash and Miami played the same amount of top tier competition according to the final rankings, and both handled themselves very well. The fact that Wash may have played 5 3-win teams and Miami played 5 4-loss teams (hyperbole) doesn't really matter all that much to me since both are guaranteed wins any ways.

It doesn't really jump out at me. Washington and Miami had two common opponents: Nebraska and Arizona. Washington defeated Nebraska @ Nebraska by the score of 36-21 while Miami defeated Nebraska in the Orange Bowl (technically a home game for Miami) 22-0. Both teams handled Nebraska very well. And then you have Arizona. Washington blew out Arizona @ home by the score of 54-0 while Miami defeated them @ Arizona by the score of 36-9.

Washington easily!
'91 Huskies are the most underrated champion of the last 40 years. That team was filfthy crazy awesome. They would have beaten '91 Miami which wasn't one of their crazy good teams.

Definitely the 1991 Huskies. Many claim that the 1991 Huskies were the best Defensive team of all time. They also were #1 in the "better" poll (AP) and did better against common opponents.

Emtman was the biggest bad arse I have ever seen on D. They completely raped a very good Michigan team.
