might be the worst MLB team I've ever seen. I'm sitting here watching them play the Royals, and boy do they suck. They drop fly balls, throw balls in the crapper, suck at the plate, pitchers throw meatballs, etc. They are currently 27-83. about to be 27-84 with a 16 game losing streak. They are currently on pace for 39-123 which would beat out the 40-120 1962 Mets for worst record in modern history. I feel sorry for Steve Stone and the other announcer. It has to be hard to call and watch this crap day in and day out.

Yeah, a typo, but if a team could pull this off it's the 2024 ChiSox

Bad owner who will only hire people he knows and likes.

Naive, inexperienced and unqualified general manager. He completely completely botched the Fedde trade and let John Mozeliak lead him around by the nose. (It was the Cardinals, not the Dodgers, who ripped off the Sox: Fedde had the highest WAR of any player traded at the deadline, and Mozaliak convinces Getz that he is the equivalent of Edman.

And the field manager, Pedro Grifol is perhaps the worst in major league history. The Sox had two of the top starters and the major leagues. You can’t win so few games with two of the top starters unless your manager is affirmatively effing things up, which he repeatedly has.

sad thing is they are not far removed from having a really good young team that was set up for a decent run

Even when they were good and won the World Series in 2005, they weren’t even that good of a team.

I'm 100% convinced Tim Anderson killed that locker room.

Also, imagine if Hawk Harrelson was still doing games. I have zero doubt that he would say "frick" in the middle of a broadcast somewhere.

This sounds exactly like my Cincinnati Reds. Our owners, the Castellini's led by Big Bob and his useless "Tommy Boy" son Phil, our scared not good GM Nick Krall who was hired to be a straight yes man for the Castellini's. I mean, he's been in the Reds organization for 20+ years. What does he know about building a winning team? Don't get me started on manager David Bell. Frustrating.

We knew this team would be arse since last winter, but they still shouldn't be breaking the club record for consecutive losses twice in the same season. It's hard to comprehend how bad Grifol has been.

At least when we sucked with Renteria, the clubhouse bought into what he was trying to do and played with some fricking effort. Grifol on the other hand reportedly told his players that it's their fault if they go down as one of the worst teams ever.

Screw Reinsdorf and Getz for allowing this clown show to go on as long as it has.

The White Sox are helping keep the Indians and the Royals in the playoff hunt.

ETA. As another poster pointed out, the Royals are 12-1 against the White Sox

The worst part is I’m not really sure who they’re tanking for. The kid from UGA won’t be eligible until the 2026 draft and he’s really the only sure fire stud I see out there. 2025 has great players, but is the SS Holliday kid from HS that good?

And if they’re not tanking, MLB needs to do some serious looking at that ownership. They’re driving the franchise into the ground.

What’s hilariously disappointing about this thread is that my Braves are 1-2 against the White Sox this year.

Uh they almost went poll to poll with the best record in the league in 2005 didn’t they? Then were dominate in the playoffs. Very good team

The worst part in all of this, is that we're not bad like the White Sox. We are just "meh", and winning 79 games every year is enough. David Bell needs to be fired now. We're are so "meh", that it's not even worth talking about. The Castellini's are trash owners that are more worried about being stroked than winning.
