This is Porsche's typical cyclical racing strategy, hit it hard and bail after two years of dominance. Porsche then sell cars to the privateers (they started last year).
I’m not saying it’s a rumor but there is some smoke that maybe Porsche is going Indycar racing in 2027
Im assuming the engine spec will be the spec limit V6 that allows OEMs to design their own hyrbid systems as RACER originally published around a year ago

Isn't it time for a new IndyCar chassis?

2027… I’m expecting them to release a mock up in May

Are you saying they are going to Indy as an engine supplier or to actually run a team?
Posted on 3/30/25 at 1:32 pm to MississippiLebowski
I think Porsche is either going to replace Honda or become the 3rd OEM in 2027

Whoa. I’ve never heard that.

I guess there is no room for a competing chassis supplier? IndyCar will continue to be a spec series?

I have not heard of a second chassis supplier. With the new car coming out in either 2027 or 2028, I think it's pretty much all hands on deck to keep Honda, find a replacement, or find a third engine supplier right now. I get this information from various Indycar podcasts.

I miss March vs Lola, with Foyt, Penske, and Patrick building their own cars.

IndyCar became a single chassis series before it was required. They could buy customer chassis but usually one was better and they all gravitated to that. The other chassis mfg. usually went in to a deep financial hole if it couldn't compete.
Contrary to popular belief, LMP2 is not a spec series. It's open but Oreca has the best, (and now only) chassis in that series.

1) Wow! Good for him.
2) Rexy will run in IMSA's GTD class at Long Beach. The only two classes on the grid will be GTP and GTD.
3) Indycar will be going head-to-head against The Masters on April 12. I'm not expecting much of a rebound in TV ratings.

I wonder what that fake hair feels like? Does it feel like hair? Does anyone know besides Pierre Gasly?
I'm a big of Indycar and The Masters. It'll be a day for both.

This is the closest thing to Wind Tunnel we have in 2025

Just ordered my tickets to Children's of Alabama at Barber. Saturday supports races/qualifying and Sunday Race.
Anyone been and have tips?

Beautiful facility. Bring some cash and enjoy the “fan fest” with food trucks, a big beer tent, and interactive exhibits.
We got an IMSA and Indycar race this weekend - in the same place!

Some news and notes for the upcoming Indycar/IMSA double Long Beach race weekend.
1) The #66 Meyer Shank Honda of Marcus Armstrong will have a new orange and black paint scheme.
2) Conor Daly's #76 Juncos Hollinger will feature Mannkind prominently in its advertising. Daly is a diabetic, so it's cool he's sponsored by a pharmaceutical company specializing in diabetes.
3) Nolan Siegel's #6 McLaren Chevy will have a new paint scheme featuring a "circuitboard" honoring sponsor onsemi.
4) Here is what Kyle Larson's car will look for the Indianapolis 500. Talk about a "prime" sponsorship.
5) The final IMSA entry list for Saturday's Acura Grand Prix of Long Beach has been finalized. There will be 11 GTP and 16 GTD cars on the grid. This is the first IMSA sprint and street race for the Aston Martin Valkyrie . . . ever. There will be no Lamborghini GTP car nor the Proton Porsche 963 GTP entry. Also, Rexy of GTD Pro fame is moving down a class to GTD so she can race at Long Beach. Tommy Milner of the Corvette GTD Pro team is also going to drive at Long Beach in a GTD Corvette.

All Indy 500 parking is already sold out, nearly three weeks ahead of last year’s pace. And two years ago, parking didn’t sell out until May 5. The track is expecting its largest crowd since the 100th running of the Indy 500 in 2016
