The Pirates make far less than other teams do for parking. $200K for Pittsburgh
Very surprising. The way parking prices are these days, I'd imagine most teams make this a game.

Does this include the over 100 million they received from Revenue sharing?

Well everyone walks to the games over the bridge.
When I lived there we took my buddy boat to games. He was from Texas

I will walk two miles to park for free before I pay $60 to park, out of pure principle. Complete rip-off, makes me sick.

$60.
It seems like they don't want us to attend. My couch + a dozen buffalo wings + the best six-pack of beer I can find is more comfortable, a better viewing experience, and a tiny fraction of the cost to park at the stadium alone.

$200K for Pittsburgh, $20 million for Milwaukee.
Milwaukee is a bit of an outlier as they have a real tailgating scene

Yes, Milwaukee is probably one of the worst examples to compare against
PNC is also close to the city center but not in it, and a lot of people walk from across the river.
I have a hard time believing they are actually losing money. I have an ever harder time believing it indicates anything about the overall financial health of the sport, likely much more indicative of a single poorly run business

Per the article, they only own one garage. If you look at the map surrounding PNC, there isn't much in the way of parking.
I'd imagine there are plenty of other teams who don't make a killing on parking either. The Red Sox and Yankees for example have next to no parking surrounding their stadiums.

Revenue sharing was included but it was only $51.6 million according to the article.

Why is that?

Some teams gross revenue is lower than other team's payroll. The league is a joke.

Because American pro sports are set up in a manner where it’s incredibly difficult to do so

Also, Pittsburgh gets a nice chunk of cash from the luxury cap, that yankees, dodgers, etc have to pay every season for their bloated salaries.
Pittsburgh, before MLB got involved, used to give themselves(execs of club), bonuses with that money. LOL MLB had to make a rule, and threaten them to stop. They believed it was acceptable to put out a shite team, spend little in development, lose a lot, and the give each other raises with cash, designated for development and on field product.

$320 million went into Luxury tax money from clubs who spent above. Cubs payed only 375K i believe.
And that gets doled out to small market clubs. Pirates also for several years had a really nice tv deal, before ballys collapse, but now are partnered, and have partial ownership in newest deal.
They arent hurting, and then you add in tickets, sponsors, mlb $$ then mlb tv $$$. LOL for falling for this bullshite

Any team can lose money if ran poorly enough or has an uphill battle, like in MLB.

Do you feel the journalist fabricated this information, after he reported the exact opposite six months ago?

They received 101m in 2023, so why would I think they only received 51m in 2024 when MLB made more money?
quote:
Forbes Report:
Forbes ranked the Pirates as the third-most profitable team in MLB in 2023, with a net operating income of $68 million.
quote:
Revenue:
The Pirates made $309 million in revenue in 2023 and spent $120 million on their payroll in 2024.
quote:
In MLB, teams pool 48% of their local revenues (like ticket sales, local TV, concessions, etc.) and the total is split equally among all 30 teams, with each team receiving around $110 million, plus a share of national revenues
quote:
Teams also receive a share of national revenues, which are estimated to be around $90 million per club.
