Not a cap #, Rogers will be paid $107.55 Million in 2024
Rodgers will be the next QB to get a new deal.

Before the trade, Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers converted a $58.3 million option bonus, payable in 2023, into a 2024 base salary, a source told ESPN's Dan Graziano.

By pushing the $58.3 million option bonus into next year -- the bonus is fully guaranteed -- Rodgers' 2024 compensation balloons to $107.55 million. That consists of an original $47 million option bonus, plus $1.21 million in minimum salary, plus the $58.3 million bonus from this year.
Rodgers will be the next QB to get a new deal.

I don’t think this really means anything. It’s still the same 47 million dollar decision, he’s just delaying a payday and guaranteeing it, regardless of him playing.
He had an option bonus for this season, which he was already going to get in a month, and decided to delay it to turn it into a fully GTD deal so the jets didn’t have to foot that bill immediately so they can load up for a run this season.
Now he has that bonus coming from this season, guaranteed next season whether he plays or not. So if he retires, he leaves the minimum 2 mil salary and the 47 million dollar salary on the table
Effectively, this is like a payday loan rodgers is giving to the jets

So...you don't think it really means anything? Combined, he would get over $100MM. Nobody in his position is going to leave $47MM on the table.

It’s the same decision he had before. Except instead of getting 50 of it in 2023, hell get the check in 2024. The only money at stake is still the same 47 mil based on whether he plays or not

So you think it's possible he leaves $47MM behind?

Damn. I knew that I should have been a Hall of Fame Quarterback.

Damn. He must use an agent.

I think it’s certainly possible, but mainly my point is that this move in the OP , has no practical effect on the decision. It’s just a procedural cap move to help the jets this season. And it’s still the same exact decision for Rodgers regardless of when the money comes in.
Either way he won’t play under that 100 mil deal next season. If he returns it’ll be a restructure to again kick the can and mitigate the cost on the cap to go all in. They even reference that in the article I believe

Love that Rodgers is completely off our books in 2024. His contract is your problem now Jets
