At this moment UFL has as much potential as CFB

Football fans of the game below the NFL level just haven't realized it yet.

Star CFB players are WAY overpaid while UFL players are way underpaid.

If the trajectory for CFB continues and NIL doesn't get reformed and improved, UFL will be on par in 3-4 years and overtake it at some point. UFL could even be bringing in potential star CFB players eventually instead of schools.

Absolutely not. Nobody feels any connection to the San Antonio Brahmas the way they do to the college they attended or have been rooting for all their life. The quality of play is irrelevant. College football has a 100 year head start on marketing and fan loyalty.

I get your argument but it will never overtake CFB because people have a tie-in to their schools as fans and will never let that go.

Most CFB fans never attended the school they root for.

True, they'll be fans to some point to their cfb team but the potential is there for UFL to gain some momentum.

Doesn’t matter if you attended if your family has been rooting for Alabama since you were born and it’s part of your identity.

Keep in mind the caveat here:

"If the trajectory for CFB continues and NIL doesn't get reformed and improved"

I've been rooting for Bama since 78 but have followed Birmingham and St Louis now for ever single season so far. The last 2 years, the play in the UFL is about the same as watching a CFB game. I couldn't say that in seasons before. NIL and the TP has lowered the quality of play in CFB considerably.

So you think the quality of CFB play has gotten better in the last 2-3 season. Interesting take.

But it’s made the top teams better (fewer weaknesses) and let’s face it, people don’t really watch the smaller conference teams that get gutted (hence they’re not in the major conferences and get gutted)

But has it really? They still play bad enough to barely win games at best.

The more teams in a league, the lesser the parity. UFL has 8 teams and more parity than the other leagues and unfortunately less entertaining scoring. They expand a little more and it gets better.

It's amazing that cfb has gotten so boring in so short of a time. It used to be exciting to watch. Unless you like seeing Ohio State (who incidentally has the most money) at the top, it's a less than satisfying product.

Ufl would work better as the summer league version of the nfl. Essentially your draft picks, udfa's and your players 60-90 on your preseason roster are on farm team and it gives you actual professional competition to scout your guys against. Fans would have a built in rooting interest. The nfl could benefit if they embraced the idea by effectively dominating the entire sports calendar

My whole point when I said that, prior to NIL, college players were still overpaid. No one is paying or tuning in to see 18 yr olds play. They are paying money to watch their favorite college team compete.

UFL seems almost unwatchable this year to me. Offenses are putrid! Hopefully that will change.

This will be a good bump when the UFL folds

Your argument is based on large swaths of fans prioritizing watching lower paid players over watching teams they already have a vested connection to, I don't see it happening

Why is how much someone is getting compensated supposed to change my interest level? Why should I care?

Sounds like a problem for the UFL if it's on par with college football.
