Is AA the only person who didn't see Iglesias regressing this season?

Everyone freaking out when we got swept by possibly the 2 best teams in the sport to start is just funny now. Sure, the Braves aren’t a top tier team right now. But all that matters is making the playoffs and then go from there. We are definitely at the top of tier 2 which will prove itself over the next 145 games. Then it’s about health and who gots hot.

The Braves are supposed to be on their level, not get run out of the stadium by them.

Where were you when they were losing.

Can Raisel be credited for 2 saves tonight? 1 for the game and 1 for the arse-whipping his teammates would have given him in the clubhouse :)

Nah, he'll make up some excuse about why he was not posting and invoke his fake wife, even though I'm sure a post search shows that he has been consistently posting on this board, just not in the ATL Threads.

That's what he did last season.

Wonder what she would think about him posting in every thread discussing a semi attractive woman about how he would give it to them

Dude I’ve been here the entire time. I just find it funny that so many “fans” are freaking out about games in April that DO NOT MATTER.

The beauty of baseball is with so many games the cream will rise. I’m the one who advocated last season to sit Sale until the 2nd half (and I was right because he misses the playoffs). I also think we should sit or limit Strider until the 2nd half. Games that matter are played after July.

And looking pathetic against the Dodgers or Padres means nothing. Losing by 1 or 5 is the same thing especially in April.

You realize that last year they would have missed the playoffs had they lost one more game. Sitting Sale for half a season would have absolutely meant not making the playoffs. Games lost in April count the exact same as games lost in September. They miss the playoffs this year by 2 games and you’ll be singing a different tune about that atrocious start.

If those are the teams the Braves have to beat to win a World Series (and they are obviously among those teams), then the goal should be to do a little better than losing every single game against them to start the season.

And look, I'm just glad to be winning, at all, right now. All you can do is win the games at hand, and so this is really nice. But we are certainly not playing very good teams right now, so I'm not sure it's chest beating time. Streaky lineup needs to show consistency, the bullpen still needs work, and we need a healthy Strider and for Chris Sale to remember how to locate his pitches, if this team is to really contend in the long run.

Who knows what to expect from Holmes and Smith-Shawver through an entire season, but the big guns have to come through.

Exactly. I have never understood the crowd who claims that early games mean nothing. Then why play them? Let's just have an 81 game season, so that we're only playing the "meaningful" second half games. But then, the goal posts would move, and games in July wouldn't matter, and we'd be talking about games only mattering midway through August, I guess. I watch enough college baseball to know that's exactly what happens. 56 game schedule, and people say it doesn't matter til mid April.

Every game is counted in the standings. And starting 5-13 has put the Braves in a whole that will take a long time to climb out of. Because of that start, they can't afford a late season slump and back into the playoffs. Obviously, they can and will have a bad series sometimes, but every month has to be a winning record from here on out, most likely.

We all know the games count the same in the standings but the reality is after July teams turn up the intensity. Sure, the Braves could miss the playoffs. But I think over the long haul they will be one of the top 6 teams in the NL. Just like every year. Winning 105 or 88 doesn’t matter because we’ve all seen the regular season is meaningless in the post season. Look at last year - the Braves play great ball all year and in the 2 games that matter Sale is in street clothes and Fried lays another October egg. So, no, I don’t care anything about the standings until June.
