I am considering going this year. Any thoughts on whether to sit in reserved seating at Turn 1 or the Grandstand Club? The club is about 1,000 more for 3 days. I cannot find much on the club - I assume the seats are covered?

Also, do people drive to COTA or use shuttles/Ubers?

Thanks in advance.

Turn 12 grandstand if you can afford it.

Public transport is good for getting there, not so much getting home.

This. Plan on staying for the concerts after if you can. Leaving right after the race is a nightmare.

While thinkin about your logistics planning, note the fact that UGA plays in Austin that weekend. Why the people in charge decided that was a good idea is beyond me.

Flights and lodging anywhere close to Austin are going to be exorbitant that weekend, not to mention the crowds.

Meh. Your 15,000 fans visiting from Georgia doesn't make much of a dent in the 200,000 fans at the race.

first of all, you're an idiot if this is what you believe

secondly, you realize that Texas fans will be in town for the game too, right?

The Killers and Queen were pretty awesome to watch there last year.
Nothing awful about it post-race.

I've been to this about 7 times, turn 12 is gonna be the best seats if available, it's basically the only passing you are gonna see in the race other than the start on turn 1.

If you wanna park, you gotta buy a $400 parking pass. Leaving after the race will take you at least 2+ hours just to get out of the area. I've been enough that we leave with 10 laps to go and still takes us 30 minutes to get out of there.

Plenty of private parking available for much, much cheaper

That is true, but some of those places look pretty sketchy.

They have some pretty large and well organized ones. I've had no issues and get out at a reasonable time, all things considered.

Thanks for the direction to turn 12. I'll take a look.

Has anyone sat in the Grand stand club? Just curious as to what you get for the extra money? I assume covered assigned seating and better food/drink options but I cannot find anything about it.

we shuttled from a lot and walked back after the race in '21. didn't have a seat but were able to walk around the track and get some really good views. may have been a smaller crowd being the first year post-covid, though

I was in the Paddock club for three days at the Montreal race. BEST experience of my life. Enjoy the race!
