honestly, how competitive the race is doesn't matter IMO for in person race watching. You can't follow whats going on, its more about just watching the cars and being there.

Hell I was timing Lewis catching up to Verstappen in my head at the race last year plus with the speakers filling in for commentary you can keep up somewhat with the race.

Also, do people drive to COTA or use shuttles/Ubers?

Transportation is awful getting in and out of COTA. I went to the Gran Prix a few years ago and it was miserable getting out of there. They built it by the airport and there’s really only 1 road in and out of that area so it gets to a clusterfrick real quick. Took us a solid 2 hours atleast to get back home which would normally be like 20 minutes away give or take

Also the hottest and most expensive sporting event I think I’ve ever attended

Oh I agree. But if way more people attend it makes things harder inside the venue plus in/out before/after.

If not mistaken there is a big home tx football game that Sat too, so hotels would need to be booked well on advance it might even be too/really late at this point.

Meh. Your 15,000 fans visiting from Georgia doesn't make much of a dent in the 200,000 fans at the race.

You're a moron. It's going to look more like the Georgia/Notre Dame game.
