Best bat for 8 yr. old?

I'm looking at getting my son a new bat. What's the best out now for an 8 yr. old playing coach pitch?

It's 8 year old coach pitch... Any bat will do. He's not an 8 year old Bryce Harper.

That's what I thought until I watched a travel team with some kids he played league ball with using big barrell Demarini bats. Kids that couldn't hit it out of the infield with DYB bats were knocking the shite out of it. And no, he's not Bryce Harper. He's closer to Pujols.

the worst one u can find! "choosing one sport to concentrate on" and "finding the best equipment" has assured that the studds and multi sport kids are fading.

How does a question about a good bat for my kid turn into judgement about how I raise him? I try to gives my kids the best opportunity to succeed in whatever they have a passion for. If that means buying him the best equipment, then so be it.

I'd go with a wooden bat. By the time he's drafted he'll have a big leg up on his competition.

Pick out three in the store that are decent, then let him pick one. Get last year's model too, to save money. With any bat, if he can hit, there will be line drives that bounce into the fence. Same with gloves...select three decent ones, then let him choose. Easton bats are always good.

Apologies if you're referring to me. To hell with who judges how you raise your children! Thats nobody's bizz. ...unless you're unfit!! As far as sports in america's youth go today, we are cheating them. We want the best shoes, gear and equipment for them.
Its kinda like how the overall group of athletes from the "country" end up more productive than everywhere else because there's less $$, sponsorship, the best equipment, nike camps and all the other stuff. dont get me wrong, im not against it but it can be a distraction.
Kids enter grade school loaded with talent and abilities but are forced to "focus" more on one sport to "succeed or get recognized" by college and pros. Many of the pros who are in the HOF's made it in on their "secondary" sport.
rocky balboa's training vs Ivan dgagos'

8 yr old travel teams are frickin ridiculous

I used to think any old bat will do. Until my 8yo was at camp and used a Marucci cat 5. Better odds of making contact and the ball does carry further. Be cautious of some bats at 2 3/4" due to denting , especially if his bat becomes the "team " bat.
If you guys want to read about the next Bryce Harper, there's plenty of them in the bat comments section at justbats.com
First review of Demarini Vexxum big barrel:
Pros:
Bought new 2013 Vexxum 29/19 last night and today fresh out of the wrapper with only 5 or 6 BP swings... my 9yr son hit his first HOMERUN over left centerfield with his 10U travel team and hit another rocket shot off of the yellow line top of the fence centerfield..he almost had 2HRs in two games today. Great pop and solid line drive shots, over half of the whole team was using the bat today and the balls were flying all over the field. Thanks DeMarini as you say the Vexxum is the "Original Gangster" the OG of G.O.N.E. My son has been quoting that to his mom and teammates after the games today. His goal this year was to hit a HR and the Vexxum help him accomplish that.
Cons:
none go get this bat!
Eta denting

The bat with the most pop for an 8 year old is Worth Lithium Prodigy... the black one. It dents easily though. Have one year warranty so you can send it back to get new one. Kind of a pain the arse to keep sending them back but it does have the most pop.

Check your league rules. My son's league no longer allows the Big Barrels. Get him a lighter bat that allows more swingspeed.

Dont' pay a ton...he's 8.
The bat won't make a difference.

maybe he should swing a shitty dull heavy bat then if you want him to succeed in the long run. A magic trampoline super light bat will just give him a crutch for shitty habits.

Seems to me at this age he should simply be trying to make good solid contact. If he's doing that with a normal bat then that's all that should matter. The kids launching homers with their all-world bats are living in a fantasy land. If anything he might learn better fundamentals by having to make 100% contact with a regular bat as opposed to getting away with mediocre contact on the special bats.
When he gets to middle school/high school then get him the best stuff. That's when it matters.

Marucci Black, Demarini CF5, Easton S1. Any will do and are the top bats. Get him a -12.

Easton XL3
2 3/4" barrel
27"-17 oz
About $130
