Who remembers a call-in show that aired weeknights on CNN in the mid 1990s, "Calling All Sports," hosted by the great Vince Cellini?

The show featured Vince taking calls from home viewers on sports topics of the day and was usually quite funny. It was ahead of its time and Cellini was wonderful as its host. Was anyone here a fan of this fun but forgotten gem?

Nevermind, I got my Cellinis mixed up. His brother is the one who did the Steve Gleason thing.

Later than that.

He was obnoxious and would insult some of the callers. Very entertaining.

It's Kincade.

And those two(Celini & Dimino) have a good show. They don't take themselves too seriously.

Memo Me

Here’s a great bit from the show. There are a number of clip compilations on You Tube.

some of the best on sports radio coast to coast were:

Ernie Spaniard show, he was a huge mets fan, i told him dwight gooden couldnt throw a meatball past a fat kid. He said if cardinals win division, he will wash cars in busch stadium parking lot till his arms fall off. Cardinals missed by a few games.(at the time, gooden was fat, and couldnt throw it past a fat kid).

Scotty ferrell on the bench. Hey scotty, the ____ suck, and pour me a yaeger and some jack daniels.

"Shake it up"

Also, we used to give horse winners to one of the guys on the 7pm-10pm talk shows on sport radio(dr tc martin). He opened the show up one night, calling the race we gave him a horse in. horse won by 15, paid $11.60. We were stupid teen agers, and used to frick with the local sports call in shows and national ones.

speaking of CNN, always loved Van earl wright, doing the sports at the top and middle of hour.

I remember Vince and Dick Versace and his awesome powdered wig hosting TBS NBA studio broadcasts back in the ‘90s.

Hard to believe Hickman spent 3 years in BR at a station that absolutely no one watches

“In August 2015, Hickman joined WVLA-TV, Nexstar's NBC affiliate in Baton Rouge, Louisiana as a news anchor. He stayed there until his departure in July 2018.”

That was great TV, and Cellini was a rock solid host. IIRC, he had some smart asses call in from time to time and you could tell he was pissed but he would keep his cool. Hosting that type of show at that time took some skill and and a real set of balls.
