Week in review:

*missed Saturday's game in its entirety

- Cardinals bats lit us up 2 out of 3 games. You know who fired their hitting coach in the offseason? The Cardinals
- Hunter Brown continues to be nails - enjoy him before we don't pay him and he walks (he is a Boras client)
- Framber continues his pattern of shite (vs Cards) followed by lights out (vs Padres). Really seems to be the theme of the team this season
- Jake Meyers leads the team in BA and OBP. Swap him and Walker in the lineup immediately
- Walker is paid $20/yr and can't hit a slider. Cease threw him 6 straight sliders last night and couldn't put one in play. He also has 10 multi-strikeout games through 21 games
- Mauricio Dubon is apparently built like a brick wall. Hope Arraez is back on the diamond soon for the Pads. Scary scene
- 20 LOB vs Padres and 15 LOB vs Cards; bats have yet to really figure it out
- LMJ was scratched from his AAA start on Saturday bc he had the flu. Next appearance is TBD (Monday's are a universal off-day for the minor leagues)
- TAY SCOTT IS NOT A HIGH LEVERAGE GUY. QUIT THROWING HIM IN CLOSE GAMES. fricking managerial malpractice every week with this guy

Looking ahead:
3 game homestand vs Toronto
Off day Thursday
3 games @ Kansas City

Nice recap. There is a place for Scott to eat innings, which he was initially doing last year. Just not in these high leverage spots. OTOH, King is putting a nice season together out of the bullpen.

Hoo made the point last night about the rest of the lineup doesn’t matter if Yordan doesn’t get going, and that’s a point that’s spot on. Part of his problem is that teams are not pitching to him because nobody behind him is worth a shite. And part of it is that he’s missing the few hittable pitches he sees.

There is no one presently on this roster to protect him.

It is statistically improbable for this team to be 10-11 at this point with the present offensive production.

The hope for the season really rests on whether the better half of the lineup can have even an average season. We went into this year thinking we would need better production from Diaz, Pena, etc., but this team could make the playoffs if those guys would just be average.

Walker has been Abreu. Astros 1B is a black hole since Gurriel was let go.

In the games I've had time to sit and watch, Yed is simply missing his pitches. He's in a slump, which is not great when most of his teammates are, too.

Walker is not nearly this bad. He's not Abreu but he's in a funk. Diaz is in a total funk as well.

It's fine though. Our brilliant hitting coaches have all the answers.

The Astros are -139 against the Jays tonight who are +118. What am I missing?

2 out of 3 vs Padres, who were 15-4 before the series.

Tough call tonight with Brown and Gausman both pitching well

Gausman has a 7 ERA in Houston in 3 previous starts though

Maybe Walker closes his eyes and hits one out or catches a one hopper instead of deflecting it

Maybe Dubon’s on the bench. Maybe Altuve gets an extra base instead of getting thrown out

Play the Under

Y'all see that everybody?

Judge's semen has done rotted this man's brain so bad that he's now posting non-Judge sfuff.

About a Blue Jays player in an Astros thread no less.

The point, and I do have one, is: Don't suck cock, it will rot your brain.

Astros are now the only team in the MLB without a direct-to-consumer streaming option. The Baltimore Orioles and Washington Nats inked a deal with MASN Sports and will charge $18.99/month or $89.99 for the full year

The good news: Walker and Dubon are on the bench tonight.

The bad news: The middle of the order is Pena-Meyers-Diaz.

Meyers hitting above Diaz is totally justified based on this 21-game sample we have. Not ideal, but justified.

Not doubting that. It's still bad news about the state of affairs.

Ballgames were meant to be played on television. Plain and simple. You sit down in your living room, grab the clicker and there's your game. Just like it's always been. Baseball wasn't meant to be viewed on your internet doodad machines, on the go, on demand nonsense.

I thank Crane and Bagwell for taking the computers out of it.

Agreed. Peña hitting fourth is a sad statement, too.
