Its pretty impressive for my tiny Louisiana town of 9000 people in a WORLD championship to win their division, and I'm proud of my little cousin!

They did amazing. The way worlds works is there are 8 fields w 75 teams each. 600 teams from all over the world and some of them are mind blowing. Like 80 countries or something . They run qualifying matches for rank, then an 8 team playoff. DV won their field to go to an elite 8 with the winner of each field. They had some problems with their bot in the finals, so topped out there. But that in itself is an incredible feat. It’s one of those things you have to actually see to understand how impressive it is. First team from La to play in the finals.
Our team from swla went as well. Did well individually, but kinda got pulled down w crappy alliance draws. But that’s actually a cool event.
But as an example of how well DV did, we went against them in the finals in the New Orleans tournament. We had a tournament high score of 180 or something. Team at worlds that won it all hung up 300. The first 15 seconds of the matches are completely autonomous for the bots. We had seen scores in the 30s for that part. Winner was putting up 80. DV being in the top 8 in the world with that is incredible. They have an awesome program and should be very proud.

Are there any videos?

Archimedes field final
This is the match where they clinched the win on their field. They are 8044. It looks like chaos with no context
but they get points for putting the balls in the nets, and pvc on the pipes, then hanging on the cages at the end. Again, first 15 seconds are the bots on their own controlled by programming only. Below is a link to their page from all season. For worlds it’s archimedes and Einstein is the finals. Each match has a video for it.

Strange that Denham is good at soccer, basketball, and robotics. I feel like I’m taking crazy pills.

Any overlap with the Denham Springs card trading club that gets recognized every so often at the Box?

They may be in future Olympic Games.
