re: Dodgers' Simple Plan on Scouting Report to Beat Yankees in World Series Rang True

Contact forces the defense to execute plays. Strikeouts don't. Put the bat on the ball, and the defense could frick it up.

Well this just seems like a Dodgers glaze piece. That's not anything.
"My God how great are the Dodgers! Their brilliant scouting told their players to run hard and be aggressive in the World Series! Nobody else could have pulled this off!"
Running hard didn't make Judge botch a simple fly ball, running hard didn't make Cole fail to cover 1st base.

I'll be fair to you, the wording of it could lead you to believe they changed subjects but by using "in every metric" they encompassed it all. Just not a great segway or the usual " explain it like we're dumb" standard that generally applies.

I guess there’s some parts missing in the quote. But they go from putting the ball in play to make the Yankees execute (this means making them execute fielding) directly to “Yankees are the worst base running team”

Not a good look for Boone.
It’s no secret he is fricking terrible. It hasn’t been for a couple years now. They got where they did despite him. He’s incompetent.

Right. But one was directly after the other. There was no transition or anything. It’s poorly written.

Wrecked lmao

They were amazed how many times relay throws came skittering through the infield with no one taking charge and how often Jazz Chisholm Jr., for example, was out of place or just standing still when a play was in action.

It’s also just the types of players they acquire.
Y'all are COMPLETELY out of touch with BASEBALL.
ANY SECOND NOW, Aaron Judge is going to flip the switch and come alive. When he does, he's going to change the outcome of the World Series.
You'll See!
(as told by Little Avery).

The people dismissing this are like a lot of college football fans, including a lot of Alabama fans, of which I am one, moaning “but mah 5 stars” and thinking that accumulated talent should automatically guarantee success for their team.
Raw talent doesn’t tell you what is in someone’s guts, nuts and, which is relevant here, heads.

The Yankees were by far the worst team the Dodgers played in the postseason. The Mets would have beaten them easily and the Padres would have absolutely swirlied that team.

It's ironic because the reason the Yankees always beat those old Boys of Summer Brooklyn Dodger teams like a yard dog back 60 or 70 years ago is that they consistently executed the fundamentals and the Dodgers didn't. Charley Dressen who managed a lot of those Dodger teams once said that they were great at scoring runs in bunches but were the worst team he'd ever seen in his life about getting a runner home from second or third base with one out where they really needed that single run, not a bunch of runs. In other words, fundamental old-school baseball.

All true.
But also true is the fact that the Yankees best, was better than every other team in the post season -- when that team was firing on all cylinders, it is an amazing team.
The problem is, it is like a 1,500 horsepower shade-tree mechanic mustang -- yeah, it's badass, but the fricker is broke down all the time.
So, when it isn't firing on all cylinders, the Yankees bottom is damn near White Sox low.

An old coach once said, "The best players don't necessarily make up the best TEAM, but the best team always wins".

How often does that happen?
They were 94-68, which is not historically significant.
They were 8-6 in the playoffs.
That is 0.5802 during the season, 0.5714 in the playoffs.

Those 50's Yankees were known for hanging around until the other team made mistakes, then kicking the door down.
