Not sure whether off the bench and AFR will move to a different station. It was quite funny to discover that this morning.
Obviously it’s not 1992 and you can stream any show you want.

Noticed that yesterday afternoon, hope it’s just a temporary thing

It isn’t. Station was sold apparently in September. For now it’s an all Wayne station but may morph into a rap/urban music station.
ESPN 100.3 is no more. Not sure if Nola will get another espn radio station any time soon.

As much as New Orleans is a good sports town, it is a zero for sports radio.
The few people who actually listen to sports radio only listen to WWL, and we all know how god-awful that is.

I had no idea, but according to wiki...

In October 2024, Steve Hegwood, via Core Radio Group, took over operations of KLRZ under a time brokerage agreement. The agreement includes an option for Hegwood to buy the station outright, with fees from the time brokerage agreement credited from the purchase price
I guess losing the Pels did them in.
But they are still the station for Nicholls right? Wonder what happens to that.
The ESPN national programming they were carrying was very meh.
I did like the saturday morning local sports show they did. They would talk to all the bayou area high school coaches. Was pretty neat to listen to.

You also now have Fox Sports Radio on that station out of Slidell with Ken Trahan. You don't get many people listening to that one either, but at least Cumulus owns it.
I do think if a serious sports radio station in New Orleans could get rights to the Saints or Pelicans, along with some good hosts, it could work. But as long as WWL has the Saints, LSU (now also Pels) and SportsTalk and the Friday night high school show, I don't see any competition working.

It played Mrs. Officer on repeat, no variety at all. But it’s playing espn now

ESPN New Orleans 100.3 is no more as the station’s parent company has entered into a new time brokerage agreement to change the format.
Coastal Broadcasting of Larose has agreed to a deal with Core Radio Group to lease the station, which is currently featuring a format of strictly Lil Wayne songs.
The move to end the station comes after the NBA’s New Orleans Pelicans moved their broadcasts away from the station in favor of Audacy news/talk station WWL, which was announced in June. The station subsequently ended local programming in August after canceling the show previously hosted by Gus Kattengell.
ESPN New Orleans 100.3 also featured programming from 104.5 ESPN in Baton Rouge, including morning show Off The Bench with Jacob Hester and T-Bob Hebert, and After Further Review with Matt Moscona in afternoon drive.

The dude that hosted the awful Saturday morning show and Mario Jerez had the noon show after Kattengall left.

And 104.5/104.9 in BR is a station dedicated to static and dead air

If you have an HD Radio capable system in your car, 98.1-2 is completely clear and static free. It's the only way I have found to consistently get a good signal for that station

WWL still has a high school show? I listen to Ken Trahan on 106.1
I thought it went away with Deke Bellevia

The local (bayou) high school sports shows are now on 102.7 KLEB FM which is the FM simulcast of 1600 AM which is also part of the Coastal Broadcasting Network. The online stream is available at klrzfm.com.
