This may a bit of my Barner bias, but Baker Mayfield ahead of Cam Newton is crazy. It's crazy to have him above Tebow and Burrow as well.

Having him ahead of Cam and Glass Joe doesn’t really bother me because they each only had one elite year of production while Baker had two elite years, a great year, and a meh year.

Ahead of Tebow is stupid though.

Then again I’m not going to get too worked up over this because they release a list like this every year or two this time of year to drive clicks and get attention since it’s a slow time for American sports in general and by far the biggest attention grabber in sports right now is the Olympics which is on an entirely different network.

This is purely to drive clicks and give their radio and tv guys something to use to fill airtime over the next few days. Ignore it and move on.

Aaron Donald is one of the best NFL players of all time, and he had a terrific college career, but he wasn’t better than Glenn Dorsey in college.

Also, where is Johnny Football?

He’s played a full season once.

Brock Purdy has done it in only 2.

Congrats on his Pro Bowl and a bunch of team accomplishments though. That 29-22-1 record in 4 seasons is amazing!

Newton is clearly #1. He won a natty basically by himself when the SEC West was at a major peak.

He did it in one single season and basically dominated some great teams.

We didn’t have another NFL player on that team. LOL. Our defense was rated in the 100’s in almost every category.

No. Tebow’s 07 was better and Tebow has easily the superior career.

He has been crushed because of poor o-line play. And still overcome that. You are blind if you don’t think burrow is garbage.

Nick Fairley was on that roster and I’m sure there were multiple other future NFL players on that roster. Either way, Lamar Jackson had literally no other NFL players on his Louisville roster the year he won his Heisman.

And your numbers on that 2010 Auburn defense are way off. You were 60 in yard allow per game and 53rd in points allowed per game. They held the number one scoring offense in the country (47 ppg) to only 19 points.

Overrated by LSU fans? Absolutely, but not garbage.

I feel like this list in general puts wayyyy too much importance on NFL career, when it’s a list of the best college football players.

Tebow ought to be #1 and Henry should be on the list.

Tebow should be higher than Mayfield, and higher than Vince Young. Young only had one really good (and it was phenomenal) season. Same with Cam Newton.

Mayfield had three awesome statistical seasons, but Tebow was definitely the bigger star.

I'm sure no one totally cares, but Jonathan Taylor at No. 25 on the list. Dude is No. 4 in career rushing yards and played just three seasons. Even if CFB counted Ron Dayne's bowl stats (would give him 7,125 yards), Taylor would have obliterated that number and threatened 8,000 if he stayed the full four. Insane.

He was Big XII freshman offensive POY as a walk-on at Tech, then he transferred to OU without having a scholarship waiting for him, and finished 4th, 3rd, and 1st in Heisman voting in his three seasons with the Sooners.

The guy overachieved with his talent level more than anyone else on the list. He was a great college player.

he didn't win anything, and like most Oklahomo QB's, they just put up meaningless stats.

Cam Newton won a title basically by himself. so did Tebow, and so did Vince Young.
They are 1,2, 3 on the list.

This is gonna trigger people, but Tebow should be #1

Edit: reading the thread, apparently it’s the most common pick for #1

1) Tebow
2) Bush
3) Burrow
4) Newton
5) Honey badger
6) Suh
7) Young
8) TLaw
9) Devonta Smith
10) Luke Keuchly

Pure college performance, no pro weighting. Defensive players who had Heisman hype on their own performance heavily weighted - Teo doesn’t count since team award. QBs is how I remember their individual importance to team and dominance plus team outcomes

I agree. Cam is #1 for me. Burrow right after.

Newton was irrelevant otherwise, and Nick Fairley was absolutely dominant on the other side of the ball

Newton won a title by himself.

To say young and Tebow did as well is asinine. They were on teams that were loaded on both sides of the ball.

IMO bush and Tebow are the indisputable top 2. Newton and young round out the top 4.

Newton and young were both more dynamic and talented than Tebow, but Newton had 1 season, young was great for 1.5 seasons and Tebow had 3+ seasons of success and ultimately by far the best career of any of the quarterbacks.

If we're heavily weighting by career accolades, I'll go Tebow 1 and Bush 2.

However, if considering dynamic ability and superiority at his position (eg. Bush was clearly the best running back whereas Tebow wasn't head and shoulders better than other QBs of this century), I'd go bush as 1.
