Bucs vs. Seahawks this Sunday at 9:30AM EST. NFL has held series in Mexico, Canada, the UK, and now Germany. Munich is the host city for 2022 & 2024, while Frankfurt is hosting in 2023 and 2025. I think this series will end up being permanent like it is for London.
Germany has the 3rd largest demographic of football viewership in the world behind only the US and Canada. There are two primetime matchups that are shown every week on TV with German commentators. This will eventually turn into 5 matchups when RTL and DANZ acquire the broadcast rights in 2023. The German teams in NFL Europe, consistently had some of the highest attendances during its lifespan and the German Football League continues to grow in popularity. Over 3 million people requested tickets to this week's matchup. I tried applying for a waitlist prior to the beginning of the season and never heard anything back. Should be a fun atmosphere.

Tom has mentioned that he's really looking forward to it.

NFL Europe did best in Germany but the NFL chose London all these years because language, international hub, etc.

Does WLAF/NFL Europe not count?

Yeah, football seemed pretty big in Germany and Austria when I was in Europe. Only place outside of the US where I saw kids throwing a pigskin around instead of kicking a soccer ball

They kind of did. The Thunder and the Galaxy now play in the EFL. They changed their uniform colors though. Liked the old green/gold ones better.

There are a lot of Americans living in and around the Frankfurt region. It’s an international hub and the global or European HQs for banking, insurance, chemical, and pharmaceutical companies.
But the biggest American presence in the area is Ramstein AB, and the thousands of civilian and military personnel that live and work in support of the base.
All those Americans and their families living and working in Germany since WWII have led to football establishing a foothold in the country. It’s not surprising the sport has decent popularity, especially in the Western regions, and Frankfurt is at center.
