Probably because he's cheap compared to most.

Money.
He's on a very secure, very reasonable deal by their standards.
You make 3M a year, and you'll be on the chopping block. You get paid 3 times as much as your demographic replacement, and you'll get the axe. You get paid a reasonable rate in comparison, you'll keep your job.
The ESPN cuts are rational salary moves; that's why Suzie Kulber goes, and Mina Kimes gets a new contract at less than half of what they used to pay Suzie Kulber.

RGIII is corny, but when he actually provides analysis, especially on QB play, it’s some of the better stuff on ESPN.

Kendrick Perkins and Dominique Foxworth made the cut. It was a very low bar.

he works for peanuts

He made a bad game 10x worse because of his commentary. The guy just wouldn't shut up. I hope he never calls another one for Bama.

Assuming he takes a cheap salary

Kept calling it an awful game. That really makes fans wanna stay tuned. The guy is a moron.

Foxworth is nothing like Perkins

Yeah, he is worse, due to his on air politics. ESPN desperately needs to shed itself of the divisive politics, which why Foxworth should have been dumped ages ago.

He’s corny but at least he seems to have some enthusiasm and is likable. I think some of his commentary isn’t terrible either.

Listening to him call a game is like that annoying stranger 2 stools down from you at the bar who won’t shut the frick up, thinks he’s funny, and can’t pick up on the fact that everyone around him is just trying to watch the game and have a few beers in peace.
