Salaries at the big league level are fairly generous. Some managers make seven figures. Hitting and pitching coaches are paid anywhere from $150,000 to $350,000, with a select few earning far more. Bench coaches earn between $150,000-$250,000. Third base coaches are around $130,000-$140,000. First base coaches are in the $100,000-$110,000 range. Bullpen coaches bring home roughly $90,000.

The benefits are awesome too. Yes they travel alot, just like the players, but the accomodations are all first class

I couldn't imagine watching a ML game from 1B coaches box for $100,000 grand a year sucking, where do I apply? Hell I'll do it for the Baby Cakes home games for free admission and a hot dog.

My parents next door neighbor is a bullpen coach and he makes a pretty decent bit more than the $90k mentioned, but he is also in a high cost of living city

The tops in the game make around $3 to $5 Million. I just don't see why they're not paid more, considering the arms race in coaching salaries in college and the NFL. When Andy Reid is making $7.5M to coach I would expect baseball managers of perennial playoff teams to get at least $5M.
Edit, just realized we're talking base coaches, not managers.

Lmao! How people don't see this coming, I'll never understand.
That's not bad money for standing at a bag and telling a guy whether to run or not.

Pitching coach seems like the sweet spot. Good pay, reasonable stress.

Major League Baseball teams carry five to 10 assistant coaches, including two base coaches, a bullpen coach, and hitting and pitching coaches. Each earns between $150,000 and $700,000 per season, according to a 2011 story in The Wall Street Journal. Experience and success bring higher salaries. The Cardinals paid pitching coach Dave Duncan $750,000 in 2010, reported NBC Sports. The veteran instructor was baseball’s highest-paid pitching coach. In 2010, the Chicago Cubs gave hitting coach Rudy Jaramillo a deal worth $800,000 per season.

He probably also gets a pretty healthy per diem rate whenever they are on the road.
